Arsenal are close to completing the permanent signing of David Raya from Brentford.

The Gunners are set to activate the £27million option in his contract after impressing on loan during the 2023/24 season. And now, Raya is set to seal his return to the Emirates on a permanent basis. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are 'completing formal documents' for the transfer of Raya to Arsenal.

Raya is expected to keep his place as No.1 going into next season, leaving Aaron Ramsdale facing the prospect of another campaign as back-up or a route out of the door. Chelsea and Newcastle are among those who could sign Ramsdale, who has two years left on his contract and is valued at around at around £30m. Like at Arsenal, Ramsdale is set to be No.2 in the England squad behind Everton's Jordan Pickford, with Crystal Palace's Dean Henderson completing the 'keeper trio.

If Ramsdale does leave, it means the Gunners will need to find a replacement. Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has emerged as a potential option following an impressive campaign, though the £63m release clause in his contract could prove to be a sticking point for Arsenal and other suitors.

The Gunners have made contact with Real Madrid for Andriy Lunin. His future in the Spanish capital is uncertain with Thibaut Courtois first-choice and back to full fitness following his knee injury.
