Arsenal icon Ian Wright has promised that he will wear a lederhosen if England make it to the Euro 2024 final. The Three Lions get their tournament underway against Serbia on Sunday as they look to make a blistering start to the competition.

England were beaten finalists in the rescheduled final three years ago, losing on penalties to Italy at Wembley Stadium as the championships were held across Europe in celebration of its anniversary. This time around, Gareth Southgate's side are looking to make the nod of pre-tournament favourites count as they're dubbed the team that could go all the way along with France and hosts Germany.

Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka will be hoping to etch themselves in English football history to become the first players since 1966 to win a major tournament for the Three Lions. Germany hosted Scotland in the tournament's curtain-raiser at the Allianz Arena with Kai Havertz and Arsenal-linked Florian Wirtz.

Wright, who is part of ITV's coverage of the competition, revealed that in Southgate's men make it all the way to the final on July 14 in Berlin, he will wear the nation's famous dress. He said: "When England get to a final, I'll put lederhosen on."

The Lederhosen is a term used in English to refer specifically to the traditional leather breeches worn by men in Austria, Bavaria, South Tyrol and Slovenia. But before England look to book their tickets for the clash in the German capital next month, they will have to overcome Denmark and Slovenia in their group before navigating their path through the knockout stages.

Southgate's squad selection for the European Championships raised eyebrows among many as Jack Grealish and Jarrad Branthwaite were left off the plane to Europe. Branthwaite, who has been subject to speculation over his future at Everton amid a reported bid from Manchester United, was one of the standout performers for not only the Toffees but in the Premier League too with the 21-year-old in fine form throughout the campaign.

Grealish has been a key member of Southgate's squad but was left out of the squad following a difficult season with injuries and lack of form. The former Aston Villa winger has struggled to hit the heights at Manchester City.
