Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is on the verge of sealing a loan move to Hertha Berlin.

The French international will spend the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign in the Bundesliga, though the deal does not include an option for Hertha to seal a permanent transfer next summer.

Guendouzi has failed to make a single appearance for Arsenal so far this term and last featured for the first team back in June, when he clashed with Neal Maupay following a 2-1 defeat to Brighton at Amex Stadium.

The 21-year-old - signed from Lorient in a £7million deal back in July 2018 - has completely fallen out of favour under manager Mikel Arteta, who insisted before the season began that all of Arsenal's players had a fresh chance to force their way into his plans.

Standard Sport understands that reports from last month that Guendouzi had handed in a transfer request at the Emirates were wide of the mark, though his future has remained subject to considerable doubt amid that ongoing first-team exile.

Hertha Berlin currently sit 13th in the Bundesliga after two defeats in their opening three outings this term.

Lucas Torreira and left-back Sead Kolasinac could also depart Arsenal before Monday's international transfer deadline, with Arteta still on the lookout for a new midfielder.

However, deals for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar of Lyon now appear unlikely.
