Arsenal are due to return to pre-season training around July 15, football.london understands. Mikel Arteta has already been working with some of the players in an early training camp in Marbella.

Some players are not involved with their international sides due to not being part of the Euros or Copa America. Martin Odegaard joined up slightly later but Jurrien Timber, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Ben White have all been keeping on track ahead of the return to north London.

An Arsenal XI will take on Boreham Wood on July 13 expected to be made up of youth players. However, it may be a chance to see some for the final time with the futures of Charlie Patino and Mika Biereth uncertain despite now being back with the side following loan spells away.

Arsenal will then fly to the United States for their pre-season tour on July 21 in which they will take on three Premier League sides. Arsenal have played a number of MLS and All-Star sides in the past but the interest in English top-flight sides taking on one another abroad is starting to dictate these pre-season friendlies far more.

On July 24 Arsenal take on AFC Bournemouth at LA Galaxy’s Dignity Health Sports Park. This will be the first opportunity to see any of the new signings that might have arrived by then with Riccardo Calafiori the main target at the moment, football.london understands.

Three days later, Manchester United will again be the opponent on July 27 at the SoFi stadium for the second summer in a row. Arsenal lost the game last year but beat Erik ten Hag’s side in both their Premier League meetings but will perhaps be looking to avoid a repeat of the same result from last year.

Then Arsenal leave California and move to Pennsylvania to play Liverpool in Philadelphia. August 1 is the date of the game at the Lincoln Financial Field after which the club will then return in the days after to return to training at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.

On August 7 Arsenal will play their first game at the Emirates Stadium when they take on Granit Xhaka and Bayer Leverkusen. Then the following weekend on August 11 Lyon will be Arsenal’s opponent in the Emirates Cup as Ainsley Maitland-Niles could return for the first time since leaving on a free transfer.

Arsenal’s first Premier League game is against Wolves on August 17 at 3pm. Mikel Arteta will be hoping that the summer’s extensive preparation and potential early transfers will set his side up for a renewed title charge and close the two-point gap that was left at the end of last season to Manchester City.
