Arsenal chief commercial officer Juliet Slot has been tipped for a potential role outside of the club. It was announced that the chief executive of the Jockey Club, Nevin Trusdale, and the CEO of the British Horseracing Authority, Julie Harrington will be stepping down at the end of the year and the Guardian reports that Slot has been prominent with the bookies’ betting for both roles.

Having been at the club since December 2021, Slot has overseen some major commercial deals for the club. The new Adidas deal renewed in late 2022 is, according to marketing expert Lukasz Baczek, to have seen the previous £60million per season deal increase to £75million per season and will run through to 2030.

Meaning across the deal the club are in line to receive £600million. The club has had great success on the kit front with their away shirt for the 2022/23 season selling out for the very first time in a record-breaking scenario.

Furthermore, the recent sponsorship of the club’s training ground previously known as London Colney saw another significant financial reward earned through Slot’s work. The newly-named Sobha Realty Training Centre, which according to Baczek is worth £15million per season, was yet another impressive financial boost for the club.

Arsenal have already seen a shake-up at the club this summer as CEO Vinai Venkatesham has stepped down. Richard Garlick has since been promoted to managing director role at the club too whereas Edu Gaspar was previously promoted to sporting director from technical director at the end of 2022.

In another move in the commercial sphere, Omar Shaikh, who joined the Gunners last year from Liverpool, has been promoted from partnership development director to a new role of global partnerships and ventures director. This will entail reporting directly to Slot.

The announcement of this promotion combined with the other moves and tips for the likes of Slot continues to showcase the club’s ongoing evolution and progression off the field, similar to how they have risen up the league with their on-field performances. Arsenal are continually showing the ambition to compete with the elite clubs in the world.

Fans will be hoping that the improved financial revenue will coincide with more transfers but Arsenal continue to show that nothing is done spontaneously with each move meticulously planned. They may need to show some shrewd quick-thinking in the future depending on the outcomes of certain futures of staff but the outlook remains bright.
