Arsenal may be forced to wait to secure the signing of one of their potential transfer targets this summer.

The Gunners are yet to reach agreements for any potential new signings during the summer transfer window.

Mikel Arteta will be busy assessing his squad ahead of the new Premier League season with a view to potentially bringing in further reinforcements via the transfer market.

One player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal is Jeremie Frimpong. Reports over the last few months have stated that the Gunners have an interest in signing the Bayer Leverkusen defender.

However, a fresh update has emerged about Frimpong's future with the Bundesliga champions. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the wing-back is not close to a move away from Leverkusen.

The report states that Frimpong will only be able to complete a move away from Leverkusen after his involvement at Euro 2024, after deciding to focus on performing for his country at the tournament.

Frimpong is currently with the Netherlands national team taking part in the competition and made an appearance off the bench in the country's win over Poland on Sunday.

Arsenal are not the only club to be linked with a move for Frimpong this summer. Manchester United and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.

Reports have speculated that Frimpong may have a release clause worth £35 million in his contract at Leverkusen. However, the clause is set to expire later this summer, leading to increased speculation that the defender could be on the move in the coming weeks.

Frimpong played a key role in helping Leverkusen go undefeated to beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title last season. He made 47 appearances in all competitions and scored 14 goals with 12 assists from right-back, but was also utilised on the right wing by manager Xabi Alonso.
