Arsenal's transfer links with Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto have strengthened a touch more with Braga's Rodrigo Gomes set for a £12.7million move to Molineux.

Highly-rated 20-year-old winger Gomes is set to have a medical with Wolves later this week before he is expected to sign a long-term deal which will keep him in the Midlands until 2029.

He scored seven goals in 30 league games on loan at Estoril Praia across 2023/24 - and while the prospect's efforts were closely monitored by Atletico Madrid, Wolves have beat the La Liga side for his signature, according to the BBC.

Pedro Neto, meanwhile, has been on Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar's radar for some time now, and the news of Wolves bringing in a potential replacement for the winger will come as music to his ears.

With a winger set to join Wolves, it could have a knock-on effect on Neto's future and see Arsenal test their resolve in a bid to finally bring the talent to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite missing 19 games this season through two separate hamstring injuries, the crafty winger bagged 11 assists in 24 games - proof that he is prolific when fit.

One thing which could put Mikel Arteta off bringing the star man to north London could be his consistent injuries though, with an ankle injury in the 2022/23 season leaving Neto watching from the sidelines for 127 days, while a knee injury in 2021 left him out for the best part of a year.

As he is under contract running until 2027, Wolves won't be keen on letting such a pivotal player go cheaply either - especially when they paid around £18m to sign him from Lazio back in 2019.

Arteta and Edu look to have a busy transfer window ahead of them this summer, already rumoured to be interested in a wealth of world-class players ahead of a fresh season.

The Gunners have been linked with Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, who netted 18 goals in 42 appearances for RB Leipzig in the most recent campaign - however, they'll be in stiff competition with Chelsea who are also reportedly keen on signing the 21-year-old.

Aston Villa midfield maestro Douglas Luiz is also a proven player that Arsenal have been linked with, but it could be a tough task to take him from Unai Emery - as he is admittedly enjoying his football at Villa Park at present.

However, if they struggle to sign the Brazilian, they could look to strengthen their midfield with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes or Amadou Onana as the Gunners look to go one step better next season after missing out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
