Arsenal vs Fulham LIVE!

Gabriel made up for his huge error as Arsenal came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 at the Emirates. The Brazilian was caught out in possession as Aleksandar Mitrovic won the ball back and put the visitors in front in the second half, threatening the Gunners’ perfect start to the season.

That lead lasted eight minutes before the Gunners got themselves back on terms. Bukayoi Saka played the ball inside to Martin Odegaard and the Arsenal captain’s strike took a deflection, leaving Bernd Leno with no chance.

The pressure continued to build and eventually it told with five minutes remaining. Gabriel Martinelli swung a corner it, it dropped in the six-yard box as William Saliba and Leno went up for it and Gabriel was on hand to poke home, his celebration one of relief as much as it was jubilation. It returned Arsenal to the top of the table, after four straight wins to start the season.

But Martin Odegaard equalised for the Arsenal and Gabriel bundled home in the 85th minute to make it four wins from four and take the team back to the top of the table.

Bukayo Saka’s post-match reaction...

20:08 , Matt Verri

“We had to be patient. Credit to Fulham, they made it difficult for us. In the end we got the result we wanted, so we’re happy.

“Eddie Nketiah made a real difference for us. I’m happy with his contribution and I’m sure he’ll score a lot of goals for us this season.

“We’re all so hungry to win each game. We’re going to continue like this for the whole season. We know how difficult the Premier League is. We’re just focusing on the next game, the next game and the next game.”

90+6 mins: Marco Silva furious on the touchline, he’s already been booked for his complaints. Not impressed at all with the time-wasting from Arsenal or some of the decisions.

19:22 , Matt Verri

90+4 mins: Gabriel will be fine to continue, as Arsenal make one final change.

Odegaard off, Holding on. Everybody back for the Gunners now.

19:20 , Matt Verri

90+2 mins: Nasty clash of heads between Gabriel and Reed, there will be a break in play.

Mitrovic having to be calmed down by his team-mates - he’s found something to be annoyed about.

19:19 , Matt Verri

90+1 mins: Ramsdale with a huge save to deny Chalobah - Arsenal hanging on!

Five minutes added on.

19:17 , Matt Verri

89 mins: Tomiyasu on for Arsenal for the final few minutes.

Priority now for Arsenal very much just doing everything to hold on.

Redemption for Gabriel, there will not be a more relieved man in north London right now.

GOAL! Arsenal 2-1 Fulham | Gabriel 86'

19:14 , Matt Verri

ALL IS FORGIVEN!

Gabriel makes up for his earlier effort as he puts Arsenal in front for the first time in the match!

Corner again drops in the box, it’s Gabriel who responds quickest to bundle it home.

19:12 , Matt Verri

84 mins: Nketiah almost in again, ball won’t quite drop for him.

Arsenal stay on the attack, Martinelli curls an effort towards the far corner... flicked behind. Gunners piling on the pressure.

Ball drops in the box, it’s a mess from the corner before Fulham eventually clear.

19:10 , Matt Verri

82 mins: BIG, BIG CHANCE!

Sustained Arsenal possession, and Gabriel then slides a wonderful pass in behind for Martinelli.

Cut-back is perfect, right into Nketiah’s path and he fires straight at Leno. Had to score.

19:08 , Matt Verri

80 mins: Mitrovic topples over demanding a free-kick, never going to be getting that. Also never going to get Arsenal to kick the ball out of play, as he continues to roll around.

He’s eventually back up, as Nketiah and Jesus almost combine. Fulham hack it away.

19:05 , Matt Verri

77 mins: Saka runs at Tete, takes him into the box. Onto his left foot, goes for goal and it’s deflected behind for a corner.

Arsenal starting to build the pressure - that eases it though. Martinelli’s corner floats into Leno’s arms.

19:04 , Matt Verri

76 mins: Martinelli plays the ball down the line and Nketiah has space to drive into.

Cuts inside onto his left foot, Odegaard completely free just outside the box. Goes for goal himself though, does Nketiah, but doesn’t get the curl on it. Fair way wide.

19:02 , Matt Verri

74 mins: Martinelli playing off the right now, space opens up for him and he goes for goal. Comfortable save for Leno.

Mitrovic is arguing with anything and everything that moves - he knows he’s right in this match.

19:00 , Matt Verri

72 mins: Fulham happy to get plenty of bodies forward, certainly aren’t sitting back and settling for a point. Every time the ball gets swung into the box they look to be in business.

Jesus goes down, he thinks he’s been caught late. Eventually the referee agrees, Tete did catch him.

18:57 , Matt Verri

69 mins: Mitrovic with another header, this time over the bar. He’s just a constant threat.

Cairney on for Fulham. Anybody’s guess what happens in these final 20 minutes!

18:54 , Matt Verri

67 mins: Fulham awarded a corner, one that replays would suggest they are lucky to have.

Swung in, Mitrovic powers a header at goal and it’s a sensational save from Ramsdale! Huge moment.

Simon Collings at the Emirates

18:54 , Matt Verri

Arsenal looking much more lively with Nketiah upfront alongside Jesus. The Fulham centre-backs have their hands full.

GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Fulham | Martin Odegaard 64'

18:52 , Matt Verri

ARSENAL LEVEL!

They really needed that. Saka plays it inside, Odegaard drives forward and goes for goal. Takes a massive deflection, Leno has no chance as it flies into the opposite corner.

18:50 , Matt Verri

63 mins: Odegaard should shoot from the edge of the box, goes for a reverse pass to Saka that doesn’t come off.

Nketiah then turns brilliantly in the box, draws Leno out and sqaures it. Nobody there. Comes out to Martinelli, his shot is blocked.

18:49 , Matt Verri

61 mins: Here is Nketiah, replacing Tierney. Wouldn’t call that a straight swap.

Looks like Martinelli is going to be playing as some sort of left-back for the final 30 minutes!

18:47 , Matt Verri

59 mins: No need for Arsenal to panic, still plenty of time to get back into this.

But Fulham look dangerous when they win the ball back, there is space for them to break into.

Arteta has seen enough - Nketiah coming on shortly.

Simon Collings at the Emirates

18:46 , Matt Verri

For the first time this season, Arsenal are behind. The Fulham away end is going absolutely mad as they sing: “Mitro’s on fire”.

GOAL! Arsenal 0-1 Fulham | Aleksandar Mitrovic 56'

18:44 , Matt Verri

FULHAM TAKE THE LEAD!

Absolutely disastrous from Gabriel. He’s caught taking an age on the ball, Mitrovic wins it back and finishes brilliantly.

Well, well, well.

18:42 , Matt Verri

54 mins: Arsenal look to respond to that, Odegaard goes for goal from just outside the area. Parried away by Leno.

Very nearly straight to Saka, but it’s just wide enough. He’s then off his line well to claim the ball as a decent cross comes in.

Gunners swiftly back on the attack, played back to Jesus - his tame effort is comfortably saved.

18:41 , Matt Verri

53 mins: What a mess from Kebano!

Fulham head the Arsenal free-kick out and Kebano has the entirety of the Arsenal half to break into, Odegaard can’t catch him.

Pereira is up with him, he tries to find him but his legs completely give way as he goes to cross. Doesn’t make contact with the ball. Mitrovic then blasts over from miles out.

18:39 , Matt Verri

51 mins: Been an edge to this match for much of the 50 or so minutes we’ve played, couple of nasty challenges and some hot heads out there.

Robinson goes in on Jesus and earns himself a yellow card.

18:38 , Matt Verri

50 mins: Jesus, Odegaard and White all in the same five-yard area on the right.

It’s Jesus who whips the cross in, Martinelli wins the header at the back post but it just loops up for Leno.

18:35 , Matt Verri

47 mins: Saliba catches Mitrovic, Fulham striker looks in a bit of pain after that.

Stood on Mitrovic’s heel - and he is yet to get back to his feet. Accidental from Saliba but that’s not much consolation to Mitrovic right now.

Back underway!

18:33 , Matt Verri

Up and running again at the Emirates.

Best chance of the half

18:25 , Matt Verri

Simon Collings at the Emirates

Arsenal dominating possession but not managed to find a breakthrough. Martinelli hit the bar from a corner and Saka denied by a good save from Leno. Fulham been well organised and drilled.

HT: Arsenal 0-0 Fulham

18:18 , Matt Verri

And that will be half-time at the Emirates, Jesus has a shot blocked inside the box in the final seconds.

Plenty to like about that Arsenal display but no goal to show for it.

(Getty Images)

18:16 , Matt Verri

45 mins: Jesus and Palhinha both shown a yellow card for their part in that. Entirely unnecessary.

Arsenal have a corner as Robinson puts the ball behind - just one minute added on at the end of the half.

18:15 , Matt Verri

44 mins: Mitrovic holds off about three Arsenal players, before a couple more arrive on the scene to win the ball back.

Palhinha then brings down Saka, Jesus quickly over to shove the Fulham midfielder. Not impressed with that challenges. Brief exchange of pointless shoves from both teams follows.

18:13 , Matt Verri

41 mins: Arsenal starting to get a bit frustrated, Fulham doing a good job of slowing things down and halting any momentum.

Gunners seeing plenty of possession, not doing too much with it now though. Odegaard goes down just outside the box, wants a free-kick. Not getting it.

18:09 , Matt Verri

38 mins: That’s better from Fulham, as Mitrovic holds it up and pings a ball out to Kebano.

It’s a sublime touch from him to bring it down, drives into the box and plays the ball back to Pereira. Fired well over the bar, should have done much better from that position.

18:07 , Matt Verri

36 mins: Fulham not offering a huge amount going forward but they’ll be happy with the start they’ve made to this match.

Robinson breaks forward for the visitors, bit of a lunge from White to bring him down. Yellow card.

18:05 , Matt Verri

33 mins: Saka should score!

It’s another sensational move, breaks down as Xhaka tumbles over. White’s pass it then deflected into the path of Saka, cuts inside onto his left and only has Leno to beat. Can’t do it, well saved.

Tierney hammers an effort at goal from the rebound, blocked.

Simon Collings at the Emirates

18:03 , Matt Verri

Bernd Leno’s warm welcome quickly faded here, with Arsenal fans annoyed at him seeming time wasting with 60 minutes still to go.

18:03 , Matt Verri

32 mins: And that’s anything but a dangerous cross.

Martinelli balloons it miles over the bar, to huge cheers from the Fulham fans at that end.

18:02 , Matt Verri

31 mins: Arsenal really need to give the ball to Jesus at every opportunity, Fulham can’t cope with him.

Feet are far too quick for Adarabioyo, wins a free-kick for his side just outside the box on the left wing. Great position to put a dangerous cross in.

18:00 , Matt Verri

29 mins: Martinelli hits the bar from the corner!

Leno was scrambling and looked panicked as that flew over his head. Onto the top of the bar and over.

The goalkeeper then holds his hands up as though he had it fully under control - not sure about that.

17:59 , Matt Verri

28 mins: Jesus pretty much playing where he wants, has opted for the left wing in the last five minutes.

Martinelli more central and he flicks a ball over the top for Jesus, who can’t quite bring it down in time. Ream over to put it behind for a corner.

17:57 , Matt Verri

26 mins: Tierney loses the ball but he’s quickly in position to win it back for his side.

Fulham briefly getting into good positions, but Arsenal working so hard to then slam the door shut.

Painful one for Mitrovic

17:56 , Matt Verri

17:55 , Matt Verri

24 mins: Martinelli charges after Kebano, thinks he’s won the ball back but a free-kick is given. Arteta almost charged onto the pitch, furious at the decision.

Pereira takes it short to Reed, he floats it into the box and Ramsdale strolls off his line to catch it.

17:53 , Matt Verri

22 mins: It’s sublime again from Arsenal, just can’t find the final ball though.

Odegaard whips a ball over the top for Jesus, who holds it up and flicks a lovely reverse pass inside for Saka.

He finds Odegaard, back to Saka, who can’t get the shot away. Maybe one pass too many from Odegaard.

17:51 , Matt Verri

20 mins: Xhaka with a good run down the left and Tierney finds him.

Opts not to slide Martinelli in, instead going for a very ambitious low cross towards Jesus at the back post. Leno off his line to comfortably claim.

Hasn’t yet been called into serious action on his Emirates return.

17:49 , Matt Verri

18 mins: Messy at the back from Fulham and it almost works for the Gunners.

Gabriel charges down a clearance, it drops in behind for Martinelli but Tete gets there to slide in, just as the Brazilian looked set to get a shot away.

Saka swings the corner in, headed out and the Gunners are forced all the way back to Ramsdale.

17:48 , Matt Verri

17 mins: Fulham struggling to get out now, as the Arsenal fans once again turn to their new Saliba chant.

This is the Frenchman’s fourth match for the Gunners - safe to say things are going well so far.

17:46 , Matt Verri

15 mins: Big chance for the Gunners after a lovely move!

Saka and Odegaard combine on the right, the Arsenal captain swings in a brilliant deep cross which perfectly finds Jesus.

Opts not to go for goal, lays it off for Xhaka and he fires it wide from inside the box. Didn’t connect with that at all as he had hoped.

Simon Collings at the Emirates

17:45 , Matt Verri

A decent start from Arsenal, who are controlling plenty of possession. Tierney isn’t playing as inside as Zinchenko does, but Arsenal are still able to run the midfield.

17:44 , Matt Verri

13 mins: Really good from Saka, bouncing ball and he takes control of it, shrugging Robinson off.

Tries to play the one-two with Odegaard, Saka goes down in the box - no penalty. Not sure even the Arsenal players truly believed in that cause.

17:41 , Matt Verri

10 mins: Nearly a clever one from Fulham, drilled low towards the near post and Palhinha gets there, but fires an effort high and wide.

First sign of the visitors in attack and they looked confident.

17:40 , Matt Verri

9 mins: Adarabioyo has made a really poor start, giving the ball away under no pressure at all. Arsenal don’t need any additional help.

No sign of Mitrovic being involved yet - will be a good battle between him and Saliba this evening.

Here is the big striker, plays it out wide and that’s a corner for Fulham.

17:38 , Matt Verri

7 mins: Ream goes flying through the back of Jesus, doesn’t even bother complaining about the free-kick being given.

Taken short, before Tierney looks to ping a pass over the top for Martinelli. Just too much on it though, skips out for a goal-kick.

17:35 , Matt Verri

4 mins: White tries to flick a Mitrovic pass away to safety, gets it all wrong but it turns into a lovely first touch and takes him into space.

Adarabioyo then caught taking an absolute age on the ball, Odegaard’s cute pass through doesn’t come off. Fulham man very fortunate there.

17:33 , Matt Verri

2 mins: Xhaka demands an early corner and he gets his wish. Martinelli over to take.

Short to Jesus, who manages to flick it back to Martinelli but Fulham scramble across to clear the danger.

KICK-OFF!

Up and running at the Emirates - should be an entertaining match!

Brighton and Manchester City have gone above them after victories in the 3pm kick-offs, but the Gunners can go back to the top of the table with three points this evening.

Arsenal fears over £50m top target emerge as transfer talks continue

16:17 , Jonathan Gorrie

Arsenal fear they will be priced out of a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

The Gunners have spent big during the current transfer window, splashing out more than £100million on the likes of Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Arsenal are still keen to recruit a winger, though, and the club have identified Neto as a top target.

A switch to north London for the Portugal international before the transfer window shuts next week will be tough, however, as Wolves could demand as much as £50m for Neto as he only signed a new five-year contract in March.

Arsenal work on Bellerin and Maitland-Niles exits

16:07 , Jonathan Gorrie

Arsenal are working on finding new clubs for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Hector Bellerin before the transfer window closes.

Bellerin’s preferred destination remains Real Betis, were he spent last season on loan, but there is still no agreement between them and Arsenal.

Maitland-Niles has been offered to a number of Premier League clubs, with Bournemouth and Southampton expressing the firmest interest.

The midfielder is into the final 12 months of his current contract at Arsenal, but the club have the option to extend it by a further year.

Fulham transfer news: Left-backs wanted

15:46 , Jonathan Gorrie

Fulham missed out on Brighton forward Neal Maupay after Everton signed the Frenchman.

Brighton were keen to cash in on a bidding war at around £14million as the pair target new forwards to help them avoid relegation from the Premier League.

It leaves the Cottagers assessing their options having also missed out on Bordeaux’s Ui-jo Hwang - who will sign for Nottingham Forest to be immediately loaned out their sister club Olympiakos.

Still, they remain contenders for other forwards and wingers in the final days of the transfer window with Roma winger Justin Kluivert still keen on a move to Craven Cottage on an initial loan with an option to buy.

The west Londoners also want left-sided defenders with both Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzaw targets on season-long loan deals.

However, Atletico Madrid and Lazio are rivalling Fulham’s bid for Reguilon.

Xhaka elated at ‘beautiful’ Arsenal relationship he never expected

15:41 , Jonathan Gorrie

Granit Xhaka says he is the happiest he has been in football after turning his Arsenal career around and has backed the Gunners to achieve “something big” this season.

Xhaka has endured some turbulent times during his six years at Arsenal, most notably in 2019 when he was stripped of the captaincy and his relationship with fans appeared broken beyond repair after he rounded on supporters as he was booed from the pitch.

But the Switzerland midfielder has rebuilt that bond with fans and is enjoying a renaissance in the Arsenal team that sits top of the Premier League. Xhaka is playing some of his best football and has played a key role in helping Arsenal win their first three matches of the season under Mikel Arteta.

Few would have predicted that William Saliba and Aleksandar Mitrovic would go into Saturday’s match between Arsenal and Fulham as two of the stars of the season so far.

Both have been among the best performers in the Premier League over the first three weeks and their match-up promises to be a physical affair.

Such has been the level of his form, recent reports have credited Arsenal with more interest in the 29-year-old, with the Gunners having come close to signing him during the summer of 2019.

Arteta issues Arsenal FFP update after ‘Uefa watchlist’ reports

15:21 , Jonathan Gorrie

Mikel Arteta insists that Arsenal are compliant with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the Gunners were one of 20 clubs that had been added to a Uefa watchlist after initial analysis flagged up concerns for the 2021-22 season.

Under Uefa rules, clubs are continually monitored by the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) to ensure they do not breach FFP regulations, which relate to losses over a three-year period.
