Arsenal vs Juventus LIVE!

The Gunners this evening complete their mid-season set of friendlies with the visit of Serie A champions Juventus to the Emirates Stadium in a high-profile contest as a number of World Cup stars return to the fold. Both Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsdale start the game.

Arsenal’s next competitive game is not until facing West Ham on Boxing Day so they will hope for another healthy test against a big European rival having dispatched both Lyon and AC Milan in recent days. The Old Lady have not played in over a month and do not return to domestic action until January, so will be looking to get up and running today.

Kick-off tonight is at 6pm GMT. You can follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog as Mikel Arteta & Co. look to break it three wins from three in this mid-season break!

Own goals from Xhaka and Holding sees Arsenal head back into Premier League action with a defeat.

They bossed possession but barely tested Juve, which will be a concern.

Full-time!

19:54 , Alex Young

94min: That’s it! It’s defeat for Arsenal in their final pre-season friendly.

GOAL!

19:51 , Alex Young

91min: They scored in first-half injury time and now in second-half injury time!

Arsenal are signing off these friendlies with a defeat, and it's another own goal - this time Holding diverts a low shot over Ramsdale.

19:49 , Alex Young

89min: More late corners for Arsenal, this time Cedric tasked to swing in the perfect cross... which he doesn’t.

19:47 , Alex Young

87min: Elneny now trying to make something happen, forcing a corner off Locatelli but Odegaard’s cross is cleared.

19:45 , Alex Young

85min: Cedric sends the free kick to the other side of the penalty area for Vieira to half-volley at goal, which is easily snuffed out. Poor.

19:44 , Alex Young

84min: Cozier-Duberry is making things happen! Gatti this time just gets fed up and shoves the kid to the floor, conceding a free kick on the left near the byline...

19:40 , Alex Young

80min: This Cozier-Duberry is an exciting talent, very brave as he looks to turn Ake inside and out on the left flank, both times he is just about thwarted but a handful nonetheless.

19:36 , Alex Young

76min: Juve have Arsenal's number tonight, flooding the space and cutting out all options.

It's very impressive considering these team-mates have barely seen each other in weeks.

Also helped by Arsenal's fairly unimaginative attacks.

19:32 , Alex Young

73min: Cozier-Duberry and Gatti tangle inside the Juve box, prompting half-hearted penalty appeals from the home support but it is the young Gunner who is penalised.

19:31 , Alex Young

71min: A snapshot from Vieira from the edge of the area looks to be goalbound before being blocked Riccio.

He’s got great technique, does that young Fabio.

19:26 , Alex Young

67min: An early sight of goal for Cozier-Duberry as Nketiah’s cross-cum-shot looks to fall into the youngster’s path at the back post, but it’s a few yards out of reach.

19:24 , Alex Young

63min: A few changes for Arsenal. Cedric, Elneny and Cozier-Duberry replace White, Partey and Xhaka.

NO GOAL!

19:21 , Alex Young

61min: Arsenal denied by the flag once again as Gabriel fouls a Juventus defender before Nketiah tucks home.

Gabriel looks in some pain.

19:19 , Alex Young

59min: Nice from Vieira, who takes a fizzing ball in his stride into the area but dinks a fine cross towards the back post at Marquinhos but the youngster cannot convert.

19:17 , Alex Young

55min: A couple of corners in quick succession for Arsenal, first Odegaard takes and then Vieira, but Juve deal with both.

19:11 , Alex Young

50min: Arsenal starting the second half how they did the first: on top.

I should add that there was no changes for either team at the break.

Second half!

19:04 , Alex Young

46min: ...we’re back under way!

19:03 , Alex Young

The Juve team is out, not Arsenal yet.

19:02 , Alex Young

It’s been all Arsenal but the Old Lady head in at half-time with the lead after Xhaka’s own goal.

Xhaka has otherwise been very good. Nelson, another standout, was earlier forced off with an injury.

Half-time

18:49 , Alex Young

46min: There’s the whistle!

GOAL!

18:48 , Alex Young

45min: Deary me! Against the run of play, Juve score in first-half injury time.

It's an own goal from Xhaka, who simply heads a cross into his own net.

18:45 , Alex Young

42min: Arsenal still pinging the ball around midfield, but not having much more luck as half-time approaches.

18:39 , Alex Young

38min: Finally some urgency from Juventus as Kean is released over the halfway line to charge at the Arsenal defence, but the striker has no support and is soon crowded out.

OFF THE POST!

18:36 , Alex Young

35min: As replays are shown of the offside goal, Juve make a mess of the subsquent free kick to gift Nketiah a chance to fire into an empty net... but he somehow hits the post!

NO GOAL!

18:35 , Alex Young

34min: Arsenal win a free kick around 20 yards out after Odegaard is wiped out from behind.

The skipper picks himself up to fire the ball straight into the wall, it comes back in and Nketiah slots home... but he’s well off.

18:32 , Alex Young

30min: Juve are at least starting to enjoy a bit of possession now, which wasn’t the case five minutes ago.

Arsenal still in control, but making less headway into the final third.

18:30 , Alex Young

26min: Nketiah again almost squeezes through after harrying the Juve defence - namely Rugani - but they just about stand firm as Perin rushes out to smother the ball near the six-yard box.

18:24 , Alex Young

22min: Oh dear. It looks like Nelson will be forced off injured. He looks gutted, let’s hope it’s not serious. Replays suggest a hamstring strain.

Marquinhos is on.

18:22 , Alex Young

21min: Xhaka is enjoying himself. This time he’s on the half-turn and spots Odegaard with a pocket on the edge of the area, and finds him with one touch. Unfortunately the skipper’s shot bends the wrong side of the far post.

18:20 , Alex Young

19min: Arsenal are just a step above Juve today, which isn’t a huge surprise given the Italians haven’t played any form of game in a month and are still another month away from competitive action.

Xhaka almost plays in Nketiah, but this time the Juve defence steps up and intercepts.

18:16 , Alex Young

15min: Feels like almost a matter of time before the Gunners score. They are at it today, and Xhaka almost sets up Nketiah for a shot with a smart back heel inside the area.

18:15 , Alex Young

13min: Arsenal firmly on top and again Nelson is involved with a fine cross towards the back post, which Nketiah brings down but can’t work the space for a firm shot on goal.

18:12 , Alex Young

9min: Almost a stunner from Vieira on the volley after being beautifully teed up by Nelson. Showboat stuff but Perin palms the ball away.

18:07 , Alex Young

6min: White with a speculative volley from the edge of the area after Juve fail to properly clear a corner... but it’s about 400 feet over the bar.

18:05 , Alex Young

4min: Arsenal already turning it on with some slick one-touch passing in front of Juve’s box, probing for an opening which Xhaka spots at the back post, but Nketiah can’t get to it.

18:03 , Alex Young

1min: First chance inside the first minute as Nelson, who scored in midweek, cuts in from the left and fires a low drive into the near side netting.

Kick-off!

18:01 , Alex Young

Right then, here we go! Underway at the Emirates.

Allegri is already complaining about the cold, it could be a long night for him.

17:58 , Alex Young

Not the biggest crowd ever seen at the Emirates Stadium but a decent turnout for a friendly on a very cold Saturday night.

17:54 , Alex Young

Here come the teams.

17:45 , Alex Young

Juventus going through their final warm-ups on the pitch.

It’s another very cold evening in London.

17:31 , Alex Young

Arsenal are tonight boosted by the return of several World Cup players for their friendly showdown with Juventus.

The likes of Thomas Partey and Ben White returned to Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup in the Dubai Super Cup win over AC Milan and Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsdale have now followed suit today. There is no room for Bukayo Saka or Oleksandr Zinchenko.

USA goalkeeper Matt Turner has also rejoined training and has a spot on the bench against Juventus.

Gabriel Jesus (knee) and Emile Smith Rowe (groin) remain absent through injury, meanwhile.

Arsenal XI

17:17 , Alex Young

No Saka, but Xhaka and Ramsdale are back.

17:00 , Alex Young

The last time these two teams met in a competitive game was way back in 2006 in a Champions League quarter-final second leg.

It was 0-0 on the night in Turin, with Arsenal going through 2-0 on aggregate thanks to winning the first leg. They made the final that year, but lost to Barcelona.

Arsenal made relatively easy work of AC Milan on Tuesday to win the Dubai Super Cup.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring with a fine free kick from the edge of the area, bending the ball over the wall and past the rooted Ciprian Tătăruşanu in the Milan goal.

Milan improved after going behind and were pushing for an equaliser until Reiss Nelson's lucky strike. Fabio Vieira did very well to work space inside the area, before finding Nelson whose strike took a big deflection past the keeper.

Arsenal mid-season tests so far

16:26 , Alex Young

Arsenal showed no signs of rustiness as they cruised to a 3-0 win over Lyon in the Dubai Super Cup a little over a week ago.

Almost a month after the Gunners beat Wolves in their final Premier League match before club football went on a break for the World Cup, Mikel Arteta’s side looked as sharp as ever in their first of two matches in Dubai.

Goals from Gabriel, Eddie Nketiah and Fabio Vieira put the Gunners in complete control heading into the break, and that proved to be more than enough for victory. A penalty shootout took place after the match with an extra point on offer, and Karl Hein, with his four saves, was the only one to come out with real credit as the Gunners won 2-1 following a really poor set of spot-kicks.

Score prediction

16:15 , Alex Young

Back on home soil, the Gunners should continue their fine mid-season record with another victory.

A 2-1 Arsenal win.

16:06 , Alex Young

Leonardo Bonucci and Federico Chiesa will miss out for Juventus due to injury.

Juan Cuadrado, Dusan Vlahovic and Paul Pogba are also absent.

15:55 , Alex Young

This game will come too soon for Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe, who are on the comeback path from respective knee and groin operations.

Ben White made his playing return against Milan. It will be interesting to see which World Cup stars out of Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka and Co follow for this game, with Thomas Partey having also featured last time out.
