Arsenal's winning run is literally making the world a better place as Hector Bellerin's vow to plant thousands of trees for every victory is reaping dividends.

Bellerin is a vocal voice on environmental issues and has spoken in the past about the impact that climate change has on society.

The right-back announced in mid-June that he would be working with charity One Tree Planted, and pledged to fund the planting of 3,000 trees for every Arsenal win until the end of the season.

Bellerin had said of the initiative: "I care deeply about making a positive impact for future generations. We need healthy places to play outdoors and where biodiversity can thrive in nature.

"Thanks to support from the team and fans, we can plant lots of trees together!"

That pledge appeared to be off to a rocky start as Arsenal lost their first two games back, but four wins on the spin has seen work commence.

On Monday afternoon, Bellerin tweeted a picture of a tree nursery with the message: "First set of seeding taking place. Ready to go into the rainforests in November!"

The saplings will become part of the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in Central Brazil, one the longest of all nature corridors on Earth and one of South America’s largest reforestation projects.

So, Arsenal fans will be heartened that with each passing victory, the Gunners are making the globe greener.
