Romelu Lukaku gives his reaction on Sky Sports: “We are the hunters now, the last results were not the best and now we have to chase, we have to treat every game like a final, today we won and we push on.”
On his goal, he adds: “I try to be less static and try to be on the move all the time, the cross was a brilliant cross.”

Full time! Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea
19:22 , Marc Mayo
It’s a big comeback win for the Blues!
GOAL! Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea | Jorginho, 90'
19:21 , Marc Mayo
90+3 mins: Game, set and match!
Penalty to Chelsea!
19:19 , Marc Mayo
90+2 mins: Stonewall!
Konsa sends Lukaku tumbling after a brilliant break from the Belgian.
19:18 , Marc Mayo
90 mins: Four minutes added on.
19:18 , Marc Mayo
89 mins: El Ghazi has made things happen for Villa since coming on and his move inside falls to Chukwuemeka, who fires a shot into the Chelsea crowd and finds it repelled quickly.
19:15 , Marc Mayo
88 mins: Save!
Villa need some inspiration, as do their fans by the sound of it. But it’s Chelsea who break and Martinez parries a great opening for Hudson-Odoi - what a stop!
19:14 , Marc Mayo
86 mins: Almost a third as Mount gets in behind and Alonso takes over with a powerful hit, which is closed down.
19:12 , Marc Mayo
83 mins: Tired defending from the hosts almost allows Mount in at the far-post, yet Chelsea are hardly busting a gut to pack the box themselves.
19:10 , Marc Mayo
81 mins: A bit of respite for Chelsea, with possession in Villa territory.
Can they see out a crucial three points?
19:07 , Marc Mayo
79 mins: Can’t blame El Ghazi for firing at goal after cutting in down the left flank, and Mendy makes a comfortable save.
19:05 , Marc Mayo
77 mins: El Ghazi on for Sanson, who can take out his gumshield after that effort.
Villa remain on the offensive and a penalty shout is denied by a tight offside call.
19:02 , Marc Mayo
74 mins: Rudiger puts a good foot in to stop Cash’s cross after a good run from the full-back, before the ball lands for Sanson who launches a two-point conversion into the Holte End.
19:01 , Marc Mayo
72 mins: And there are those Villa changes, Buendia and Ings off for ex-Chelsea man Traore and youngster Chukwuemeka.
James Robson at Villa Park
19:00 , Marc Mayo
Tuchel would be in his rights to be a little concerned about that missed Mount chance. That would have killed the game off. Instead, Villa are still in this - and Chelsea have used up all their subs.
18:57 , Marc Mayo
69 mins: A bit more from Villa in these past few minutes and Cash draws a foul from Alonso, which is worth a booking from Martin Atkinson.
18:54 , Marc Mayo
66 mins: Chance!
Martinez can count his lucky stars after he’s beaten to a long ball by Mount, the midfielder is in behind with the goal gaping and men to choose from - and rolls a tame effort wide. Oh my.
18:53 , Marc Mayo
65 mins: Just 20 yards out, to the left of the D and... James fires it high and wide. Not his night.
18:52 , Marc Mayo
64 mins: Mings turns around Lukaku and the striker goes down, earning Mings a fifth booking of the season, and a free-kick for Chelsea in a good spot.
18:51 , Marc Mayo
62 mins: Kante, who has put in a real shift, is saved for the final half hour as Kovacic comes on.
18:48 , Marc Mayo
60 mins: Fantastic touch by Mount as Chelsea get the chance on break on a rare Villa move forward. Douglas Luiz covers across and concedes the throw.
Villa, behind for the first time, must surely open up and press on a bit more now.
James Robson at Villa Park
18:46 , Marc Mayo
Lukaku has looked really sharp in just a few minutes on the pitch. Crucially, Chelsea have a target and are finding him.
Great movement to drop off and then dart in front of Mings. And a good header too.
18:45 , Marc Mayo
57 mins: Hudson-Odoi put it in the area and Lukaku did the rest with his trademark movement, physicality and finishing prowess.
GOAL! Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea | Lukaku, 56'
18:43 , Marc Mayo
56 mins: Pretty much all Chelsea in these opening ten minutes of the half as Villa struggle to formulate any counters.
And Lukaku pops up to head home!
18:41 , Marc Mayo
53 mins: Close!
Mount puts a lovely ball in from the right that just evades Lukaku, and Cash makes a hash of his clearance - sending it straight into the unbeknownst arms of Martinez.
That could have gone anywhere.
18:39 , Marc Mayo
51 mins: That is indeed that for Silva, who slowly jogs off for Christensen to replace him.
It looks like more of a precaution than anything for the veteran.
James Robson at Villa Park
18:38 , Marc Mayo
Worrying signs for Chelsea. It looks like Silva has hurt his hamstring. He’s talking to the bench and Christensen has been sent out to warm up.
James Robson at Villa Park
18:36 , Marc Mayo
No sooner than Lukaku comes on and suddenly Chelsea have something to aim for. That’s clearly the instruction from Tuchel, too.
18:35 , Marc Mayo
46 mins: Pulisic does indeed head to the right flank, with James tucking in and Lukaku the central striker.
An early warning sign for Villa as Rudiger looks for the Belgian but Martinez punches clear, leaving Mings on the floor in the process.
Second-half begins! Aston Villa 1-1 Chelsea
18:33 , Marc Mayo
Lukaku on for Chalobah, likely pushing Pulisic out to wing-back.
18:29 , Marc Mayo
Perhaps the question is how long will it be until we see Lukaku?
Tuchel says the Belgian can play most but not all of the 90 minutes, so a 45-minute cameo would be less of a fitness risk and Pulisic up top has made little to no impact.
18:27 , Marc Mayo
A hefty 62 per cent of possession in Chelsea’s favour that half, but the visitors are down in shots - three to four. Just the one on target between them, which was Jorginho’s penalty.
18:22 , Marc Mayo
A ringing endorsement of Aston Villa...
This Aston Villa side plays good football. Very well drilled. Credit to S. Gerrard 👏🏻

Chelsea have not looked good at all. That was a gift of an equaliser - and, frankly, looked like the only way they would score.
Half-time! Aston Villa 1-1 Chelsea
18:16 , Marc Mayo
That’s the break, the only shot on target coming from the penalty that levelled up James’ own goal for the hosts.
18:15 , Marc Mayo
45 mins: One minute added on as Chelsea sit on the ball for the final moments.
18:14 , Marc Mayo
43 mins: There’s one for Mendy to hold, Watkins getting on the end of a sweet move down the right but Silva turns his cross towards the goalkeeper.
James Robson at Villa Park
18:11 , Marc Mayo
Villa are getting through Chelsea’s midfield so easily - and from there they are exposing the back three.
With a bit more composure, they could have worked Mendy on a number of occasions.
18:11 , Marc Mayo
40 mins: More from Villa as Chalobah has to block an Ings opening before Cash is denied by Silva.
Not sure Mendy has made a save yet, given the number of deflections his defenders have thrown in - one of which wasn’t too helpful.
18:10 , Marc Mayo
39 mins: Mendy atones for a Jorginho error by racing out his area to slide away a ball destined for Watkins.
18:09 , Marc Mayo
38 mins: It’s been fairly subdued since the equaliser, Villa having to readjust after a bit of a gut punch and Chelsea still stuck in second gear.
In truth, they got the goal despite never leaving second gear...
18:06 , Marc Mayo
36 mins: The defences were so on top, I did wonder how either side would score.
It turns out it was via two defensive mistakes...
James Robson at Villa Park
18:05 , Marc Mayo
Well that is an absolute gift for Chelsea.
A penalty looked like the only way they were going to score. They have been so poor up front.
What was Cash thinking? He did not need to make such a rash challenge on Hudson-Odoi and referee Martin Atkinson had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Perhaps that will perk Chelsea up a bit.
GOAL! Aston Villa 1-1 Chelsea | Jorginho, 33'
18:03 , Marc Mayo
33 mins: Jorginho... scores!
18:03 , Marc Mayo
33 mins: Martinez is booked for digging his studs into Jorginho’s spot...
Penalty to Chelsea!
18:02 , Marc Mayo
32 mins: Cash downs Hudson-Odoi!
18:02 , Marc Mayo
32 mins: Chelsea bounce back with a strong break led by Kante, the ball reaches Hudson-Odoi at the far-post but he cannot work a yard and the shot is cleared.
18:00 , Marc Mayo
28 mins: James had overhit a pretty simple forward ball moments earlier and I was just writing that it had not been his day so far... well it certainly isn’t now.
Targett’s cross from the left was unconvincingly headed on by the right-back and Mendy watched it fly in at the near-post!
GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 Chelsea | James OG, 27'
17:58 , Marc Mayo
27 mins: Mendy is beaten after the cross gets deflected!
17:55 , Marc Mayo
25 mins: Crossbar!
Mount swings in a cross from deep that floats and floats towards Martinez’s far-post - and then hits it and bounces over.
The goalkeeper successfully persuades referee Martin Atkinson that he got nothing on it, and a goal kick is eventually given.
17:51 , Marc Mayo
22 mins: Describing this game as scrappy would feel harsh - but safe to say both defences have been on top.
James Robson at Villa Park
17:50 , Marc Mayo
That was another dangerous break from Villa. Watkins has the beating of Chalobah for pace. Credit to the Chelsea defender for not giving up in his chase, but it is clear where Villa can hurt them.
17:50 , Marc Mayo
20 mins: A smart ping over the top from Douglas Luiz sets Watkins around down the left and Chalobah is forced into a lunging block to prevent his shot from troubling Mendy.
A bit of quality all round, there.
17:48 , Marc Mayo
18 mins: Speaking of nice tackles, Kante wins the ball off Douglas Luiz 30 yards from the Villa goal and Alonso’s lofted cross is hit first time by Mount - but blocked by Targett.
The corner is headed not once but twice by Ings, the second saving Villa from a fresh corner.
17:47 , Marc Mayo
16 mins: Nice run from Ramsey, on the diagonal into the penalty area, and minor calls for a penalty as he hits the deck under a challenge. It was, indeed, a nice tackle.
James Robson at Villa Park
17:45 , Marc Mayo
That is a couple of times Villa have managed to get beyond the last Chelsea defender. They’ve not made either opening count, but there is a warning there for Chelsea.
17:44 , Marc Mayo
13 mins: Not the most entertaining of starts with Chelsea lacking dangerous attacking options and Villa stout at the back and playing on the break.
One such counter sees Ings fire off an effort from 15 yards out, which is blocked for a corner.
17:41 , Marc Mayo
11 mins: Silva clears Watkins’ low cross after the striker is set free down the left.
Ings was ready and waiting in the middle but the Brazilian did well to close down the ball in.
17:41 , Marc Mayo
10 mins: Mings rises highest to clear a Mount corner, the Villa backline is looking concentrated and motivated early on - perhaps knowing boss Gerrard is a bit more of an all-seeing eye today.
James Robson at Villa Park
17:38 , Marc Mayo
Chelsea have had a good period of control in the first seven or eight minutes. They haven’t managed to open Villa up, but they’ve had plenty of possession.
17:36 , Marc Mayo
5 mins: A really nice sliding tackle from Targett hooks the ball away from Chelsea’s first movement forward, via James down the right flank.
The ball moves to the other wing and Alonso is promptly repelled as well.
17:34 , Marc Mayo
3 mins: The hosts with more of the ball as this one builds slowly, most of the possession inside their own half.
17:32 , Marc Mayo
2 mins: A 4-3-3 from Aston Villa with Watkins and Buendia wide of Ings through the middle.
Pulisic is the central striker for Chelsea, with their 3-4-3 placing Mount and Hudson-Odoi on the flanks.
Kick-off! Aston Villa 0-0 Chelsea
17:30 , Marc Mayo
This Boxing Day’s feast of football continues...
17:27 , Marc Mayo
The teams are out!
17:26 , Marc Mayo
No reason not to expect goals today.
Tuchel’s Chelsea have only failed to score in two of the German’s 18 Premier League games, both of which finished 0-0.
And Aston Villa have scored in all but one of their last 14 home games. That failure was also a goalless draw.
17:23 , Marc Mayo
Chelsea are out to avoid one of two unwanted runs that could be completed today if they fail to win.
Thomas Tuchel has never gone three league games without a win as Blues boss, while the club has not drawn three in a row since February 2012.
On top of that, Chelsea were beaten in their last two Boxing Day matches.

With Steven Gerrard not in the dugout for Aston Villa, he will have a direct line to assistant Gary McAllister on the touchline.
The Scot tells Sky Sports: “As you can imagine, he’s really really frustrated.”
He adds: “After our last performance at Norwich, we know the momentum broke a bit [due to the postponements].
“So be brave in possession, really organised out of possession. They have some seriously good players and we need to stop them.”
17:12 , Marc Mayo
Thomas Tuchel tells Sky Sports that Romelu Lukaku could have started tonight, but he opted against taking the risk.
The Chelsea boss says: “Yes, but never a possibility of starting and doing and 90 minutes. He’s just come back from Covid.”
17:06 , Marc Mayo
This will be these two teams’ sixth meeting on Boxing Day, with Chelsea unbeaten thanks to three wins and two draws so far.
The last? A 4-4 draw in 2007 with three red cards.

Same again, please…
17:00 , Marc Mayo
Thomas Tuchel has called for the Premier League to reintroduce five substitutes due to the Covid-19 outbreak across the division.
Describing the situation as “very serious and very challenging”, the Chelsea boss says the measure is key to protecting players.
“For us it's the same situation as for anyone else,” he told Sky Sports. “We have concerns, because we are not only football players and coaches, we are also fathers and have family members so we are also concerned and have doubts and fears.
“Still we are privileged to do our jobs and do what we love the most so it's kind of in between. I'm very impressed with how the team takes it.
“You know very well that the situation was very different when we arrived in Wolverhampton and had seven positive tests in three days.
“We had the feeling that we had an outbreak and wanted some time to deal with it mentally and to settle the team down. That was not the case and we lived with it.”

Full-time at the Etihad and Manchester City have whopped Leicester 6-3, having witnessed their four-goal lead cut down to just one.
Arsenal hammered Norwich 5-0 and Tottenham are 3-0 winners at home to Crystal Palace.
They’re into injury time at London Stadium meanwhile, with Southampton 3-2 up against West Ham.
16:42 , Marc Mayo
So two changes for both teams - Aston Villa bringing Sanson and Ings in for McGinn and Young - who are both absent from the squad.
While Tuchel starts Jorginho and Hudson-Odoi but has no space in the XI for Lukaku, who is on the bench following his Covid absence.
The hosts' team news is in...
16:37 , Marc Mayo
Aston Villa XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett; Ramsey, Sanson, Douglas Luiz, Buendia; Ings, Watkins.
Subs: Steer, Tuanzebe, Hause, Iroegbunam, Chukwuemeka, Traore, Trezeguet, Davis, El Ghazi.
How Chelsea line up...
16:32 , Marc Mayo
Chelsea XI: Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi.
Subs: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Sarr, Kovacic, Saul, Barkley, Lukaku, Ziyech.
16:19 , Marc Mayo
A comeback at the Etihad? Leicester are now back to 4-2 at Man City...
West Ham have levelled it up at home to Southampton, meanwhile, thanks to a Michail Antonio goal.
16:14 , Marc Mayo
Just over an hour until we kick off at Villa Park.
Team news should be with us at 4.30pm.
Head to head history
16:06 , Marc Mayo
Just one Villa win in their last ten meetings - compared to eight for the Blues.
Chelsea wins: 66
Draws: 35
Aston Villa wins: 58
Around the grounds
15:53 , Marc Mayo
Lots of goals flying in across the 3pm kick-offs - and not much good news for Chelsea.
Harry Kane’s goal has helped Tottenham open up a 2-0 lead on Crystal Palace, while Arsenal are two up at Norwich.
Leaders Manchester City have smashed four goals past Leicester, and, in good news for the Blues, Southampton lead 1-0 at West Ham.
Evening Standard score prediction
15:49 , Marc Mayo
Given Chelsea’s struggles to score goals of late, as well as Villa’s ability to dig deep against the title challengers they’ve faced thus far, a draw seems a likely outcome.
1-1 draw.
Aston Villa team news
15:42 , Marc Mayo
It is unclear as to what sort of squad Gerrard will have to pick from after their game with Burnley was postponed due to rising Covid cases.
One thing for certain is that the manager will not be in the dugout, due to a positive test for Covid-19.
15:35 , Marc Mayo
Chelsea predicted XI (3-4-3): Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kante, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic, Lukaku.
Early Chelsea team news
15:25 , Marc Mayo
Romelu Lukaku is available again and could return after serving a period of self-isolation following a positive Covid test. The £97.5million summer signing has not featured since the 3-2 win over Leeds on December 11.
Tuchel has also confirmed Callum Hudson-Odoi is available again.
It was a much-changed side from Tuchel in midweek in the Carabao Cup against Brentford, but it should be a more familiar side against Villa.
Jorginho and N’Golo Kante could come back to partner each other in midfield, with Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger both also returning to the starting lineup.
In a further boost for Tuchel, Andreas Christensen is also in contention, although it remains to be seen whether he can feature from the start or not.
