Barcelona’s confidence is growing that they will finally land Liverpool superstar Philippe Coutinho in January, according to Spanish sources.

Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported today that the Spanish giants are in their most powerful position yet to secure a deal.

Nou Camp officials are preparing to bid 145million euros – and it’s said that talks have already opened.

The respected newspaper also claims that the Brazilian forward is pushing to leave the Premier League in a blow to Liverpool’s hopes of keeping their talented forwardline together with Champions League qualification in the balance.

The Reds’ current asking price is 200 euros – beyond Barca’s valuation – but there’s hope in Spain that middle ground is nearing.

Barca have “open negotiations with Liverpool’s most powerful executives and owners – and have good feelings they can finalise the signing of Coutinho in January,” Mundo Deportivo.

Anfield chiefs rejected three bids for their key player during the summer and also knocked back Coutinho’s transfer request.

When quizzed on keeping the 25-year-old at Anfield last week manager Jurgen Klopp said: “I don’t think about it. Not one second. I’m not unsure, I’m not sure, I don’t think about it.”
