Liverpool could sign a new forward this summer but there remains plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger is wanted by Barcelona.

The Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Diaz features on a three-man shortlist of left winger options for the Catalan side this summer. Alongside the Colombian, Barcelona is also considering Athletic Club's Nico Williams and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo, with the pair both currently starring for Spain at Euro 2024.

Diaz has also been linked with PSG at times as a possible option to replace Kylian Mbappe but it remains to be seen whether that move would be appealing to the player. Diaz, for his part, has already suggested at the end of the season that he is happy at Liverpool but the rumors are persisting, and his father has spoken a few times about wanting to see Diaz play in Spain.

Liverpool could have a decision to make if a big enough bid is placed on the table. The Telegraph, while reporting on PSG's interest, has suggested that it would take an offer of around $95m (£75m/€89m) for the Reds to be tempted into a sale.

But with Diaz now being 27 and legitimate question marks surrounding his output of 24 goals in 98 appearances albeit in difficult circumstances including a long-term injury and the situation with his parents being kidnapped — there could be a dilemma to solve if a substantial offer was tabled.

On the one hand, it would add to a lengthy to-do list in terms of finding a replacement. But on the other, it might be that if the Reds are to get a good fee for the Colombian, it might be close to now or never.

Liverpool.com says: Upgrading on Diaz would not be cheap even if it is possible. The bigger question, though, is how Liverpool could do that this summer. By the time he gets back to Merseyside after the Copa America, there will be a maximum of a month remaining before the Premier League kicks off again. Doing a mega-money deal to sell him to Barcelona while signing and integrating a replacement in that time would be a big ask.
