Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Barcelona wonderkid Marc Guiu, according to latest reports.

The 18-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal at the Nou Camp and his contract contains a €6 million (£5m) release clause. Barca are however keen for him to sign a new deal with the club.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich are two clubs who are said to be competing for the player, but the Blues appear to be winning the race. It is reported that the club are ‘advancing’ in talks with the player over a long term deal.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano an agreement on personal terms between Guiu and Chelsea is getting closer with ‘positive talks’ between the club and the player’s agent happening over the weekend.

Barcelona are still waiting for an answer from Guiu over a dew deal at the Nou Camp. It is however said that there is ‘confidence’ within the Chelsea camp that a deal will happen.

Guiu himself has posted an update on social media. He has added a picture of himself in Barcelona training kit ahead of a game, along with a song that translates as 'Star Boy.'

Guiu has risen through the ranks at Barcelona and has made seven first team appearances for the club, scoring twice. His first goal for the club came on his debut against Athletic Bilbao in October last year where his 80th minute strike proved to be the winner.

If a deal is completed then the striker would become the third new arrival at Stamford Bridge under new head coach Enzo Maresca. The Blues have so far completed the signings of defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham and Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian who will officially join the club next summer.

Chelsea are also closing in on a deal for Aston Villa youngster Omari Kellyman. Full-back Ian Maatsen is close to completing a move the other way, joining Villa from Chelsea for a fee of around £37.5 million.
