Beavers outrun Greenbrier East, 84-66

Feb. 19—BRUSHFORK — Kam'ron Gore exploded for 36 points and the Bluefield boys basketball team collected an 84-66 win over visiting Greenbrier East at Brushfork Armory, on Monday night.

Gore shot 15-for-27 from the field — 5-for-12 from 3-point range — and went 5-for-5 at the free throw line. He grabbed eight rebounds and five steals, also finding time to distributed six assists to his teammates. He also blocked two shots.

RJ Hairston recorded another double-double, scoring 14 points while grabbing 10 rebounds for Buefield. Sencere Fields scored eight points, also collecting six rebounds and four steals.

Nathan Dixon had a 29-point outing for the Spartans. Gabe Patton had 10 points and five rebounds while Brody Hamrick collected seven rebounds.

MCA 69, Appalachian Christian 58

PRINCETON — MJ Patton scored 30 points to lead the Cavaliers in a victory over Appalachian Christian, from neighboring Virginia.

Patton also had five rebounds and four assists for Mercer Christiain Academy (17-12). Kyler Carpenter scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Eli Patton scored 11 points and sorted out 10 assists. Isaac had eight points and five rebounds while Chance Watkins had six points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

Isaac Cowan scored 19 points for Appalachian Christian. Jesse Corvin added 11 points.

MCA plays Elk Valley in the quarterfinals of the WVCEA tournament on Thursday. The game will be played at Summersville Arena & Conference Center at 2:30 p.m.
