It may only be a matter of time before pubs, clubs and restaurants reopen, but after a year of creating the perfect home bar, we’re far from closing the doors on our personal stash.
Lockdown saw sales of alcohol and home bar equipment soar, and as the pandemic wore on, we’ve added more bells and whistles to the point where all we need is a burly bouncer or two to be considered a fully functioning watering hole.
From cocktail-aiding kits to fun optics for spirits and even a machine to help you pour the perfect pint, there are myriad ingenious products to recreate your dream saloon without stepping a foot outdoors.
Get them now for enjoying at home, and for nightcaps once the world hits play again.
Here are our favourite products, bar none.
Louxor Brass-Coloured Corrugated Metal and White Marble Bar
If you have the space and the money, why not have an actual bar installed at home? Looking as though it’s been transported from one of London’s swankiest bars, the mango wood frame is wrapped in gold-coloured corrugated metal and topped with chic marble - the perfect setting for your drinks. The back is left open for easy access to your tools, glasses and bottles from the integrated holder. That’ll give your mates something to talk about when they’re able to pop round.
Jonathan Adler Versailles Coasters set of four
It depends on what sort of joint you’re running, but classy home bars should come with coasters, both for the ‘Gram and to protect your surfaces. Design legend Jonathan Adler does it best; his set of Versailles patterned coasters will bring the feel of an exclusive members-only club to your set-up.
Woodluv Lazy Susan Revolving Bamboo Round Tray with Removable Dividers
One of the best things we’ve spent money on, this bamboo turntable currently sits in our larder and is home to our collection of hot sauces, oils and seasoning. Thanks to the removable dividers, it could just as easily serve as a drinks caddy too.
There’s space in the central ceramic bowl for citrus slices and while it can’t handle full sized bottles, it will keep bitters, mini mixers, cocktail umbrellas and smaller essentials safe inside its high sides. Measures: 33.5cm x 7cm.
Come As You Are neon sign
The bright neon glow bouncing off a cocktail glass is one of the more obscure things we’ve missed about nights out. Recreate the ambience with a neon sign from Yellowpop, which offers signs and symbols illuminated in a choice of neon colours.
For your home bar, Come As You Are fits the mood. If you’re after something specific, bespoke pieces are available too.
Oakdene Designs Personalised Name Bottle Opener
Any barkeep worth their (tequila) salt has a bottle opener on standby. Get yours with your name on at Oakdene Designs, which offers this opener made with your name. Make a great gift too.
Steepletone Retro Jukebox With Amazon Alexa
What’s a bar without decent tunes? Get the party started with this LED retro jukebox, which comes with an Amazon Alexa Dot built in. Put your pocket change away and request your favourite songs by just asking instead - this baby is voice-activated. Beautifully made with amazing attention to detail, it can be set to seven different colours which also move to the beat.
Bespoke shabby chic wall mounted drinks and optics
Serving serious style points, this custom made drinks mount is the perfect addition to your home bar. It can house your favourite bottles, as well as glasses, garnishes - even snacks.
Kendall Bar Stool Bottle Green Velvet
Want to bring the boutique bar home? Drinks aside, seating is crucial. We’ve fallen headfirst for this gold and green velvet bar stool which offers an elegant perch for your evening drink. It comes in light grey, mink and rose colours too, but the bottle green wins for its ability to mask future stains and spills.
The perfect pour from your living room is but a click away. We’re written about Beer Hawk’s Perfect Draft machine before, but it continues to be one of our favourite home drinking gadgets, pulling a pint indistinguishable from your local’s.
It’s done so well that you’ll have to sign up to the waiting list right now to stand a chance of getting one, but if you miss the charms of a great pint, it’s worth joining.
Glass Rimmer for Adding Salt to Margarita Glasses
Time saved from salting glasses leaves more for sipping delicious margaritas. We’re on board with that. This little gizmo spares you the faff; with compartments for salt, lime and sugar, it swivels shut into compact dimensions, making it handy for taking on trips away too.
