Former Indian batsman Dilip Vengsarkar feels this is the best opportunity for team India to win the ongoing Test series in England.

India are currently 1-0 ahead against England in the five-match Test series after their commanding 151-run victory at Lord’s in the second Test last week.

India won a Test at Lord’s after seven years

India’s tailenders played a vital role in their victory as England were looked favourites at the start of the final day to win the game but Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah forged an unbeaten 89-run stand between them as India gained a lead of 271 runs.

Later in the day, England were bowled out for 120 with Indian bowlers running riots through the hosts’ batting defense. Mohammed Siraj’s 4/32 was the key factor for India to win at Lord’s after a span of seven years.

It has been close to 14 years since India won a Test series in England when they beat the hosts 1-0 in 2007 under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy. After that India has lost their next three tours in a row.

Dilip Vengsarkar, who scored 6,868 runs from 116 Tests for India, believes this is the best opportunity for the team to seal a series victory and warned them not to take things lightly from here.

India will play the third Test against England at Headingley in Leeds on Wednesday (August 25).
