Team India captain Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma optimistically said that his ward will score a hundred in the ongoing Test series against England.

Although India won the second Test by 151 runs at Lord’s, but Kohli’s woes with scoring runs continue to haunt him as experts point out that it’s been close to two years since the batsman last scored an international century.

Kohli started the England series with a golden duck against his nemesis James Anderson in Nottingham and got the scores of 42 and 20 at Lord’s where India won by 151 runs.

Kohli has nicked behind the stumps in all of his dismissals so far in this tour, and England bowlers are bowling him just outside off-stump to induce his edge by forcing him to push the ball.

Don’t feel there in need to motivate Virat Kohli: Rajkumar Sharma

Sharma believes that there is no need to motivate the Indian skipper as he is happy after India’s victory at Lord’s and from the coach’s personal observation, when Kohli is excited he is up to score something big.

“I don’t feel there is any need to motivate him because he is extremely motivated. When I had spoken to him after the last match as well, he was quite excited and was happy that they had won and was not too worried about his runs. When he has such an attitude, a big hundred is about to come,” Sharma told India News.

Virat Kohli loves challenges since childhood: Rajkumar Sharma

Kohli’s counterpart Joe Root is in marvellous form with the bat, the England skipper has accumulated 386 runs from four innings with two hundreds and a fifty he leads the scoring charts.

Sharma said that it will be a challenge for the Indian star batsman to chase the tally of the England captain and mentioned that his ward is fond of challenges.

“I would say it is a challenge for Virat to chase Joe Root. I have full hope because I have known Virat from his childhood, he loves challenges. So it is a good challenge and we will see a good contest in the upcoming matches.”

India leads the five-match series 1-0 and Leeds will host the third Test between England and India on August 25.
