Boys basketball reaches semistate level Saturday

Mar. 14—High school boys basketball teams are in the final leg prior to the state finals. The surviving tournament teams head to semistate action Saturday and with two wins, teams will get the chance to play for a state title.

Class 4A

Fans can travel north on State Road 3 to New Castle for semistate action in Class 4A. The World's Largest High School Fieldhouse hosts the semistate with the first game set for 10 a.m.

No. 9 Center Grove (21-4) faces No. 8 Ben Davis (21-5) start things at 10 a.m Saturday. Jeffersonville (19-7) takes on No. 5 Lawrence North (25-3) at noon.

The north semistate is being hosted by Elkhart. Crown Point (20-5) faces No. 1 Fishers (26-1) in the first game. Ft. Wayne Wayne (22-3) takes on Mishawaka (20-7).

Class 3A

The southern semistate for Class 3A will be hosted by Seymour. In the first game, No. 6 Guerin Catholic (21-7) faces No. 3 Danville (22-3). The second game pits No. 15 Evansville Bosse (15-10) against No. 4 Scottsburg (22-5).

Up north, Logansport is the host. In the opener, Peru (16-10) takes on No. 13 South Bend St. Joseph (18-9). The other game has No. 7 Delta (22-6) against No. 12 Fairfield (20-6).

Class 2A

Southport will host the Class 2A southern semistate. In the first game, No. 8 Park Tudor (20-5) takes on No. 1 Brownstown Central (25-4). In the second game, No. 16 Parke Heritage (23-5) faces Forest Park (18-9).

In the northern semistate at Lafayette Jeff, North Judson takes on No. 2 Wapahani (24-2) in the opener. The second game pits Wabash (21-5) against No. 6 Ft. Wayne Blackhawk (21-6).

Class A

The Hatchet House in Washington is the host for the southern Class A semistate. In the first game, No. 13 Greenwood Christian (18-7) faces No. 8 Bethesda Christian (21-7). In the other semifinal, No. 1 Barr-Reeve (24-2) takes on No. 2 Evansville Christian (24-2).

The northern semistate will be held at Michigan City. No. 11 Liberty Christian (17-9) and Marquette Catholic (12-15) open things up. No. 15 Elkhart Christian (17-9) and Ft. Wayne Canterbury (16-9) play in the second game.

Semistate champions will battle for the state title March 30 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
