Saturday evening’s Premier League fixture sees Brighton and Hove Albion host Aston Villa, with both sides confident of rising up the table after two wins in their last three games.

The Seagulls are still down in 15th place, but a more clinical edge of late means they’re unbeaten in five and are 10 points above the relegation zone, despite only drawing 1-1 with Burnley in their last league fixture. Graham Potter’s team have only won five this season, but three have come in the last five as they finally find the right mix between their often-excellent approach play and having an end product in the final third.

Defensively they have also been impressive; 30 goals conceded this season is the same as second-place Manchester United and Brighton had kept four clean sheets in succession before the draw with the Clarets.

Aston Villa look to have overcome a slightly sticky patch which saw them lose three out out five recently, beating Arsenal 1-0 in their most recent match to leave them ninth in the table. They still have a game in hand on most of the teams above them and will still have their sights set on a European spot for this season.

Prediction

Both sides are likely to fancy their chances of taking all three points if on top form. Brighton’s defence has been excellent of late, but Villa do have in-form attackers of their own - so could edge it. Brighton 0-1 Villa.
