Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead are set to have a new manager at international level following Wales' decision to sack Rob Page.

Page, who played for various EFL clubs during his playing career, started his managerial career with stints at Port Vale and Northampton Town before joining the Dragons' youth set-up as under-21's boss in 2017.

He became first-team manager in 2020, helping them win promotion from Nations League B before guiding them into Euro 2020, where they were knocked out in the round-of-16 after finishing second behind Italy in Group A.

A disappointing run in Nations League A, where they gained just one point in a group that contained the Netherlands, Belgium, and Poland, preceded an equally frustrating World Cup campaign - their first in 64 years. Wales were expected to progress from Group B, but ended up finishing bottom behind England, the USA and Iran.

Page faced significant criticism after they missed out on a place at Euro 2024, losing on penalties to Poland, with a goalless draw against Gibraltar and a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Slovakia in recent friendly matches sealing his fate.

Burns and Broadhead were handed their international debuts by Page in 2022 and 2023 respectively, with the former coming out to defend the 49-year-old after the stalemate against Gibraltar.

Ultimately, the fans had already turned after recent results, with the search for a new manager set to begin ahead of upcoming Nations League games against Turkey and Montenegro.
