Although transfer business has picked up a little in the Championship in terms of the number of players signed, it appears that a third of all clubs are still to confirm a new signing this summer.

Watford, as well as relegated Sheffield United and Luton Town, are among the eight clubs yet to announce any additions to their squads, and the majority of deals that have gone through so far have been free transfers.

The biggest spenders in the last week or so have been Coventry City, who paid relegated Huddersfield £5m for midfielder Jack Rudoni and signed Luis Binks from Bologna for £1.7m.

Midfielder Rudoni scored five times in 36 appearances for the Terriers last season while 22-year-old England Under-19 international central defender Binks was on loan at the Sky Blues last season and has signed permanently from Bologna.

Middlesbrough have also splashed some cash, with 22-year-old American international midfielder Aidan Morris moving from MLS side Columbus for a fee of £3.2m.

Boro also paid Mainz £2.3m for the services of midfielder Delano Burgzorg, the 25-year-old left winger who was on loan at Huddersfield last season.

Striker Fally Mayulu has moved from Rapid Vienna to Bristol City for a fee of £3m. The 21-year-old Frenchman scored 11 times in 35 outings for the Austrian Bundesliga side.

Newly-promoted Oxford United parted with £700,000 to sign Peter Kioso from Rotherham. The 24-year-old former Luton defender spent the first half of last season on loan at Peterborough before returning to the Millers in January and making 12 Championship appearances.

Sheffield Wednesday have added five players to their squad, including former Watford goalkeeper Ben Hamer, and ex-Hemel Hempstead Town and St Albans City forward Jamal Lowe who signed on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

Lowe scored nine times in 35 games on loan to Swansea City last season.

Left-sided defender Eric Junior Bocat moved to Stoke City for £1m from Belgian side Sint-Truiden, where he made 59 Jupiler League appearances.

Portsmouth have brought in four new players on free transfers, including former Norwich and Swansea forward Josh Murphy from Oxford and central defender Jordan Williams, who made more than 200 appearances for Barnsley.

Full-back Ryan Giles has moved from Luton to Hull City, while Burnley have signed Dutch Under-21 international defender Shurandy Sambo on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.

Mali-born midfielder Ousmane Diakite has moved to West Brom on a free transfer after spending most of his career in Austria, and QPR have snapped up 30-year-old French keeper Paul Nardi who has played for Monaco, Cercle Brugge and Gent.
