Young Carlisle boxer Marc Haughan is celebrating after winning a national title.

The Carlisle Villa Amateur Boxing Club star came out on top in his senior elite final in Derby.

Haughan got the better of opponent Luke Turner in the under-75kg title.

His display led the referee to stop the fight as Haughan added the national belt to the northern regional title he won recently.

Haughan had impressed in the earlier rounds on his way to the final which was held at Derby Arena.

The 19-year-old overcame the challenge of Midlands champion and No3 seed Will Smith from Hall Green, Birmingham, in the last eight before defeating No2 seed Chris Malunda, the Yorkshire champion and Steel City Boxing Club representative, in the semis.

That sent him through to Saturday's final where he took on Merseyside and Cheshire champion Turner.

And after his performance led to victory, he celebrated with the club coaches and team-mates who had travelled to the east Midlands to support him.
