Carlos Diego Ferreira Pulled from UFC Fight Night 88 for Potential Anti-Doping Violation
Carlos Diego Ferreira was pulled from UFC Fight Night 88 on Friday after the UFC was informed of him potentially violating the company's Anti-Doping Policy.
Ferreira was slated to fight Abel Trujillo on May 29 in Las Vegas on the FOX Sports 1 prelims portion of the fight card, but a UFC statement on Friday indicated that an out-of-competition sample collection raised some red flags.

“The UFC organization was notified (Friday) that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Carlos Diego Ferreira of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation, stemming from a recent out-of-competition sample collection,” read the statement. “In accordance with the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, Ferreira has received a provisional suspension, and has been removed from his scheduled bout against Abel Trujillo on May 29 in Las Vegas.
“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.”
With Ferreira removed from the fight, the UFC indicated that it would try to find a new opponent to keep Trujillo on the card.
“UFC will announce a replacement opponent for Trujillo shortly, while additional violation information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”
UFC Fight Night 88 is headlined by a five-round bantamweight showdown between No. 7 ranked Thomas Almeida and rising contender Cody Garbrandt, both of whom are undefeated.
