'Carragher-gate': Pictures emerge of the man Sky Sports pundit spat at
Pictures have emerged of the man at the centre of ‘Carragher-gate’.
Andy Hughes filmed Sky Sports presenter Carragher while driving on Saturday. Hughes goaded the ex-Liverpool defender with references to Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over his former club a few hours earlier, at which point Carragher spat into Hughes’ car.
The saliva hit Hughes’ 14-year-old daughter and she exclaimed: “He spat on me”. Hughes claims she then burst into tears.
The incident has left Carragher battling to keep his £1m a year job with Sky and he has since been suspended until the end of the season by Sky even though he apologised.

He described his behaviour as “unacceptable” and “disgusting”, adding: “‘I have no excuse and it is devastating for the family involved and my own family, but it is my actions which have brought that on.”
Hughes, who is from Colwyn Bay, has himself been criticised for filming while driving and has spoken in support of Carragher.
He revealed they don’t want him to get sacked as a pundit, insisting: “We don’t want him to lose his job. It is not about that. We wanted an apology and explanation. He seems contrite. Everyone makes mistakes, we are all human.”
