Celtic vs Rangers first derby date confirmed as SPFL reveal more TV picks

Celtic will host Rangers for the first Old Firm derby of the season on Sunday September 1.

The SPFL have confirmed some further TV picks, from rounds three and four of the Premiership fixtures, and the big Glasgow clash is one of them. The great rivals meet for the first time of the upcoming campaign on matchday four but until now the exact day and kick-off time was up for debate until TV details were released, which has now happened.

It's the first derby with away supporters back in the stands so is sure to be a top atmosphere, and a great spectacle for fans attending and also those at home watching on televisions across the country. Gers fans will make their way across the city for a 12.30pm kick off, with the game on Sky Sports.

Celtic's home game with St Mirren on Sunday August 25 has also been chosen for Sky coverage, with a 12pm kick-off. The third game confirmed for broadcast comes on Premier Sports and is Ross County's home game against Aberdeen on Saturday August 31, with a 5.45pm kick-off.

With Premier Sports securing rights to screen some games this season, along with Sky Sports, Scottish football fans are going to be treated to far greater coverage of the league.
