Channing Tatum Praises Future Father-in-Law Lenny Kravitz After Walk of Fame Star Ceremony: 'Legend … Period'

The musician was honored with the star, where his daughter, Zoë Kravitz, gave a passionate speech as Tatum looked on

Channing Tatum recognizes greatness when he sees it.

Following future father-in-law Lenny Kravitz's Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony on Tuesday, Tatum, 43, re-shared a photo post from Lenny to his Instagram Stories and simply wrote, "Legend ... Period."

"What a day," Lenny, 59, captioned his original grid post, which included photos with daughter, Zoë, 35, plus Denzel Washington — and, of course, a snap of the music legend posing on the red carpet alongside his new star.

The four-time Grammy-winning artist concluded his caption, "Thank you to @hwdwalkoffame for the incredible honor."

Tatum and Zoë were among the celebrity attendees and audience members on Hollywood Boulevard, where Lenny received the Walk of Fame's 2,774th star in front of the Capitol Records building. The Batman actress, as well as Denzel Washington, spoke on her father's behalf during Tuesday's star ceremony.

The couple's appearance comes weeks after they began debuting behind-the-scenes footage and photos from their upcoming movie, Blink Twice, which marks Zoë's directorial debut — and the pair's relationship origin story.

On Jan. 26, Tatum shared a snapshot and short video to Instagram of Zoë at work on the film's set, writing in an all-caps that she was "ABSOLUTELY CRUSHING IT" with her first movie, which was initially titled Pussy Island.

The next day, Zoë shared photos from the movie's set to Instagram, including a Polaroid of her posing with her fiancé as he rocked an open shirt revealing his bare chest. "#BLINKTWICE in theaters august 23rd 🌴," she wrote in a caption to the latter post.

During his star ceremony on Tuesday, Lenny told PEOPLE exclusively, "It's an incredible honor to be on this street. To be with all of these great people that have done incredible things with their lives is an honor."

"I never thought about it. Like I said, when I was a kid, I was walking up and down these streets but I was pretty much always thinking about where I was gong to sleep that night," he continued. "To have it now just feels so surreal, and I'm really grateful."

In addition to Zoë, Tatum and Washington, 69, stars like Marla Gibbs and Verdine White were in attendance and showed their support.

"It means everything," Lenny told PEOPLE of being surrounded by loved ones at the ceremony. "The star is a beautiful thing but if I didn't have the people to share it with, it wouldn't be the same." He added, "To have so many people here that have known me all of my life and who have walked the journey with me is the real gift."
