Ched Evans will play for Sheffield United next season

League One champions Sheffield United are trying to sign Ched Evans for next season, reports suggest.

Evans, who played for the Blades from 2009 to 2012 scored 42 goals in 77 appearances before he was imprisoned for rape.

He was released in 2014, his conviction was quashed in April 2016 and he signed for Chesterfield in June and scored four goals in his first four matches but has failed to find the net this year.

BBC Radio Sheffield understands a fee in the region of £500,000 has been agreed between the clubs.
