McCARTHY STONE 24

BUGLERS 34

BUGLERS earned their fifth Premier win in nine games with a 34-24 win over McCarthy Stone.

Buglers started strongly but McCarthy fought back against Buglers’ strong defence.

McCarthy’s shooters Lauren Oates and Molly Farr were accurate with their shots, while Rachel Boyd and Gilly Woodsford worked well together and this caused Buglers to make mistakes.

After a strong turnover by McCarthy’s Katie Ritsema they were able to get the ball to their shooters despite strong defence from Buglers.

Buglers hit back and extended their lead with good turnovers to increase their lead to 11 goals.

Both teams battled for the ball with McCarthy scoring more goals in this quarter and their defence working hard forcing Buglers into mistakes.

With victory all to play for, McCarthy’s defence continued to put pressure on Buglers’ attack with both teams playing a fast but accurate game but it was Buglers who took the win.

GUNGHO MARKETING 33

ZEST 22

GUNGHO Marketing secured a 33-22 victory over Zest to maintain their pursuit of the leaders in Division One.

Gungho started with only six players but despite this managed to take an early lead.

Great interceptions from Gungho’s GS Mailia Brown and feeding into the circle from C Abi Pearson enabled them to take the lead.

Strong defending from Zest’s GD Zoe Whitefield closed the gap and Zest brought on Lauren Kenny into WA to open up the attack more but Gungho were still ahead at the end of the quarter.

Gungho started strong with their defence winning the rebounds. Play was end-to-end with both teams fighting for the ball and finding the net, Gungho holding their lead.

Despite Zest’s strong effort in the last quarter, Gungho’s attack maintained possession which kept their lead as they took the win.

WJNC WAVES 41

DREAM DIGITAL 17

WJNC Waves emerged with the honours in this Division Two battle, beating Dream Digital 41-17.

Dream made a positive start with great driving balls into their shooters although this was mirrored by Waves as their shooters worked well together.

Great play and movement from both teams with interceptions from Waves’ WD Halle Swyre kept the ball from Dream’s shooting circle.

Waves started energetically with great consistent play from their C Amelia Robinson.

Dream’s GA Teresa Briers and C Emily Hardwick worked hard to bring the ball back down the court but Waves built their lead through accurate shooting.

Dream kept the pressure up and everyone worked hard in very hot conditions.

The shooters were consistent although accurate aiming from Waves’ GS Rubi Moss helped her team extend their lead.

Dream made changes and WA Pauline Nash made precise feeds into the shooters but it was Waves that took the win.
