Chelsea aim for £30m transfer windfall to kickstart summer window amid Jonathan David talks

Ipswich Town are expected to make an official offer to Chelsea for winger Omari Hutchinson.

The 20-year-old winger, who was on loan at the Tractor Boys last season, is the subject of speculation this summer with just over two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge. Hutchinson has immense competition at Chelsea in the positions he is able to play and may have to look elsewhere in order to get regular game time.

The Jamaica international is biding his time and has not made a definitive decision over what he wants to do beyond this summer. A permanent move away from Chelsea, though, is a serious option for the winger, sources have told football.london, with Arsenal set to benefit from any sale with the Gunners inserting a sell-on clause after he left the Emirates Stadium to move to the Blues.

There is an expectancy that a bid from Ipswich is imminent as they look to take the winger back to Portman Road for their first Premier League campaign in 22 years. Kieran McKenna is a huge admirer of Hutchinson's talents having worked with him last season.

VfB Stuttgart and Ajax remain interested in Hutchinson, although it seems to have cooled somewhat in recent weeks. At the moment, Ipswich look to be the front-runners in the race to sign the winger but will try to drive Chelsea's asking price down as much as they can.

The Blues are expected to ask for around £30million for the former Arsenal academy star. There have been some suggestions that Ipswich will offer around £20million initially, so there may need to be a common ground found between the two Premier League clubs.

Hutchinson is doing some individual training overseas at the moment but is due back to Cobham next month to begin the pre-season preparations. Meanwhile, Chelsea are considering their options at striker, with Jonathan David from Lille the latest name being looked at by the club, football.london understands.

Chelsea have held initial talks with the Canadian's representatives over a move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues are looking to bring a new centre-forward to the club to provide competition and support to Nicolas Jackson.
