Chelsea have reportedly turned their attention to Newcastle United star Alexander Isak in their pursuit for a new striker this summer. The Blues are understood to have prioritised a new No.9 to bolster Enzo Maresca's attacking options.

Isak has made himself one of Europe's most exciting strikers after his impressive displays with Newcastle. Since joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad, the Sweden international has scored 35 goals, with 25 of them coming in his best goalscoring season yet in 2023/24.

According to the Daily Mail, conversations have taken place between Chelsea and Newcastle after the West Londoners indicated they wanted to bring the 24-year-old to Stamford Bridge. football.london understands that London rivals Arsenal are interested in Isak as Mikel Arteta is extremely keen to strengthen his frontline.

However, it is Chelsea who have seemed to push ahead with their interest, with suggestions that any potential deal for Isak would see them pay more than the club-record £115m fee paid for Moises Caicedo from Brighton in 2023. Isak's market value is at least double the £63m Newcastle paid for him just two years ago.

Eddie Howe admitted that he wanted to keep hold of Isak and midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer following an acceleration in interest elsewhere. However, the club has previously confirmed that every player has their price.

There had been claims that Isak was set to stay put on Tyneside and sign a new contract at St James' Park, but the report from the Daily Mail suggests that that is not the case just yet.

The emergence of Chelsea's interest in Isak comes after news broke of the £5m deal to sign Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu. The 18-year-old is set to be a signing for the future leaving Maresca still craving a proven goalscorer for next season.

Jonathan David, Jhon Duran and Maximilian Beier have all been linked with a bid for Atletico Madrid's Samuel Omorodion being turned down too.
