Chelsea have already welcomed a few new faces to Stamford Bridge this summer, but Enzo Maresca won't say no to more signings. The Blues began by signing Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham before wrapping up a deal for Estevao Willian from Palmeiras.

Chelsea then forked out almost £20m to sign Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa. In July, the west Londoners have shown no sign of slowing down, with Marc Giui joining from Barcelona at the start of the month and then Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following suit a few days later.

Pre-season kicks off in a few weeks and Maresca certainly has a lot of work to do. So, with that being said, has taken a look at the hottest Chelsea news and transfer gossip on Thursday, July 4.

Chukwuemeka stance

Chelsea have no plans to send Carney Chukwuemeka out on loan this summer, understands. The 20-year-old midfielder has been briefly linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

He joined the Blues in the summer of 2022 for around £20million from Aston Villa but has been unable to live up to the hype around him just yet for one reason or another. Injuries certainly have not helped Chukwuemeka when trying to build something at Stamford Bridge.

When he signed for the club in August 2022, was told that Thomas Tuchel, the Chelsea head coach at the time, had given Chukwuemeka, who was then a teenager, assurances that he would be involved in the senior squad for the 2022/23 season. Tuchel, though, was sacked from his role just over a month later. says: "It would be a real shame to see Carney Chukwuemeka leave Chelsea this summer – permanently or on loan. I think he could do really well for the Blues this season. With that being said though, I can understand why the club might want to cash in considering his wages and injury record."

Maresca identifies Chelsea weak spot

Enzo Maresca appears to have identified a weak spot in the Chelsea squad. understands that the Blues are looking to sign a new winger this summer; someone who can play several positions across the frontline.

It's believed Chelsea have shortlisted Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven. The west Londoners hold a keen interest in the 21-year-old, who made his first-team debut for the Dutch giants back in February 2022 after starring for the club's reserve side Jong PSV.

Bakayoko, who has just two years remaining on his contract at PSV, featured twice at the Euros this summer before Belgium crashed out against France on Monday evening. says: "Johan Bakayoko looked really promising when PSV faced Arsenal in the Champions League last season. With that being said though, I can't see him joining Chelsea. Enzo Maresca already has a wealth of right-wingers at his disposal – not to mention Estevao Willian or even Kendry Paez, who'll arrive at Stamford Bridge next year."

Chelsea join race for Brazilian winger

Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign Wesley Gassova. According to French publication FootMercato, the Blues and West Ham have made bids for the 19-year-old winger, who Corinthians value at €20m (£16.9m).

The report states that several Ligue 1 clubs, including Nice, are interested in Gassova, as are Porto and Roma. He's featured 34 times for the Brazilian giants this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Speaking to Terra in April, the Corinthians boss described Gassova as a 'little lazy' despite his rich skillset. Antonio Oliveira said: "He is a player who takes us far ahead [in games] due to his skills. We have to be patient, he is only 19 years old, the best thing for his development would be to stay here for another year or two.

"He has learnt a lot on the pitch, sometimes he's can be a little lazy but he'll learn. Everyone has their own characteristics and he has his own but it would be good for him to stay with us for some time to become a better person and the better person he becomes, the better professional we will have. I have a fantastic squad." says: "While Chelsea have been named as the interested club, I think this will be a deal for Strasbourg, who have already welcomed a few exciting young players this summer. I've not heard much about Gassova but he's clearly quite highly rated. Nevertheless, It's pretty obvious the Blues want a new winger or two!"
