Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic is aiming for a swift recovery after his FA Cup final injury.

The United States international started the game in fine form, netting the opening goal just five minutes in and looking a threat on the ball, but like his team’s overall performance, he faded thereafter.

Arsenal turned the game around to win 2-1 and Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback were hit by three injuries—to Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro, as well as Pulisic—and a Mateo Kovacic red card.

Pulisic pulled up just minutes into the second half, clearly feeling his hamstring going as he raced through on goal and shot wide.

Although he’s set to miss the Champions League last 16 second leg, Pulisic posted on Instagram to assure Blues fans he’ll return soon enough.

“Wasn’t our day [at Wembley],” he said. “Thank you guys for your support, I’ll be back in no time.”

The former Borussia Dortmund man scored 11 times in 34 games during his first season in England, despite falling out of favour early in the season and suffering another injury in January.

He scored four and assisted four more in Chelsea’s nine Premier League games post-lockdown, helping them secure a top-four finish and Champions League football next season.

Frank Lampard’s team trail Bayern Munich 3-0 from their first leg in Europe back in February and it’s unlikely they will overcome the deficit, meaning Pulisic’s recovery for the new campaign begins now.
