Chelsea may have signed promising 18-year-old striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona, but the Blues could also look at bringing in another young European attacker before transfer deadline day.

Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel played 30 Bundesliga games last season but started just six of them. He only began one of the club’s 12 Champions League matches and did not get onto the pitch beyond the Round of 16.

He still managed to tally double figures, netting 10 goals in as many starts across all competitions. Having only turned 19 in April, Tel fits Chelsea’s profile of being a young talent that can grow into a fruitful player.

Able to play anywhere across the frontline, the teenager offers versatility and would solve a transfer objective or two. In fact, a report from journalist Si Phillips says Chelsea are such admirers that they discussed potentially sanctioning a move for the talent this summer over the weekend.

It’s thought Bayern Munich will not wish to let him go given his potential. But Tel is currently stuck behind the likes of Leroy Sane and Harry Kane in the pecking order and risks turning 20 next season still being a bit-part player at Bayern.

Phillips therefore moots that an enquiry from Chelsea could arrive in the coming weeks. Tel arrived at Bayern in 2022 but has started just seven league games and one Champions League tie. In fact just 12 of his 69 appearances have been starts.

Tel has still managed to score 16 times, though, also registering six assists. He would be a more accomplished attacking option than Guiu, who played just seven senior matches for Barcelona before his move - albeit did score twice, including once in the Champions League.

Chelsea have signed four players this summer so far with Guiu following the arrivals of Tosin Adarabioyo and Omari Kellyman while Estevao Willian will join from Palmeiras next summer once he turns 18.
