Chelsea are on top of the world after their Champions League triumph over Manchester City, according to Mason Mount.

Thomas Tuchel’s Blues went into Saturday’s all-English final in Porto as underdogs, having just scraped a Premier League top-four finish on the final day of the season while Man City cantered to the title.

However, Tuchel got the better of Pep Guardiola as Kai Havertz’s first-half goal earned Chelsea a deserved 1-0 victory to see the club collect the second European Cup in their history.

Mount starred with a brilliant assist for Havertz, and the England international claimed Chelsea could now call themselves the best team in the world.

Mount told BT Sport: "I've dreamt as a kid of going all the way, making a final and winning it. That's what this cup's all about.

"I've been there as a kid, now to go all the way in the Champions League, through some tough games - we've played some top teams - and now we're in a final and we've won, it's such a special occasion.

"At this moment in time, we're the best team in the world and you can't take that away from us."
