Chelsea ensured Champions League qualification will be in their hands on the final day of the season with a well-earned 2-1 win over Leicester City.

In a rematch of Saturday’s FA Cup final, Chelsea did everything but score in a dominant first half but finally made the breakthrough seconds after the interval through Antonio Rudiger.

Jorginho doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Timo Werner was fouled but Leicester made for a nervy ending when Kelechi Iheanacho capitalised on an error to score.

Dan Kilpatrick was at Stamford Bridge to run the rule over the home players...

Edouard Mendy 7

Commanding and relatively untroubled until he was beaten by Iheanacho’s fine finish into the corner.

Reece James 7

Kept Jamie Vardy in check again. Enhancing his England chances by looking so comfortable as a centre-half in the back three.

Thiago Silva 6

Not his fault but involved in the mess for Leicester’s goal, with his pass leaving Mateo Kovacic in trouble. Passing out was otherwise excellent.

Antonio Rudiger 8

The centre-back given license to roam and appeared to be enjoying himself. Got the all-important breakthrough goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta 8

Used the ball intelligently at wing-back and a big threat at set-pieces, helping to set up Werner’s second disallowed effort and Rudiger’s goal by jumping ahead of Vardy.

N’Golo Kante 7

Forced off through injury after half-an-hour, having extended Kasper Schmeichel with a shot.

Jorginho 7

The midfield metronome kept a cool head to double Chelsea’s lead from the spot in a solid display against Leicester’s tough midfield two.

Ben Chilwell 7

Worked hard and nearly scored against his former club in the first few minutes. His deliver and set pieces were a threat.

Mason Mount 8

Ran the show again, buzzing around and using the ball intelligently. Tested Schmeichel with a brilliant improvised effort in the first half.

Christian Pulisic 6

Pressed well but caused problems with his runs into the channels but relatively quiet, aside from an chance in the first ten minutes.

Timo Werner 8

Did everything but score a legal goal in the first half, seeing two efforts disallowed. Persevered and won the penalty. Fans ended singing his name.
