Chelsea FC 1-1 Burnley LIVE! Vydra goal - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Chelsea vs Burnley - LIVE!

Chelsea are looking to round off a terrific run going into the international break as they take on Burnley at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The Blues have won three out of three in the Premier League since the last international break and have also reached the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and secured back-to-back victories in the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel’s men sit three points clear at the top of the table and with Liverpool facing a tricky fixture against in-form West Ham on Sunday, could have chance to pile a bit of pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s men with a victory.

Of course, Tuchel will continue to have to make do without an established centre-forward, with neither Romelu Lukaku nor Timo Werner ready to return, but that has hardly seen the goals dry up in recent weeks.

That is a big two points dropped in a game that never looked like being anything other than a Chelsea win. They paid for not taking their chances and for sloppy defending when Burnley equalised.

At 1-1 you never felt confident Chelsea would find another. Credit to Burnley for hanging in there. As for Chelsea, that is one for Tuchel to stew over during the international break.

FT: Chelsea 1-1 Burnley

16:53 , Malik Ouzia

Thomas Tuchel will be fuming.

16:50 , Malik Ouzia

90+1 mins: Jay Rodriguez is not fast, is he? He’s through on goal from 50 yards out and doesn’t even think about backing himself to get there, holding it up and then aiming for the corner, where he’s quickly dispossessed.

16:49 , Malik Ouzia

90 mins: There are going to be four added minutes. Can Chelsea find a winner?

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

16:43 , Malik Ouzia

It is not often we see Chelsea in this type of mode - frantically chasing a goal. It almost feels like they are goal down, rather than level. But given their total control of this match, this will feel like a defeat to Tuchel.

16:43 , Malik Ouzia

85 mins: A double change from Tuchel - Hudson-Odoi and Kante make way for Mason Moun and Christian Pulisic.

16:42 , Malik Ouzia

84 mins: Unsurprisingly, there’s suddenly a real urgency about Chelsea’s play. They’ve got only themselves to blame.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Burnley | Matej Vydra 80’

16:38 , Malik Ouzia

They’ve nabbed one!

It’s really well-worked, too, as Westwood hoiks one to the back post, where Rodriguez has timed his run perfectly the substitute keeps his composure to cushion across goal for Vydra to do the rest.

16:35 , Malik Ouzia

77 mins: We’ve seen handbags in the dugout and now there’s a bit on the pitch as Cornet and James clash after the former ends up in the hoardings, though nothing like the Havertz one in the first half, which looked properly painful.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

16:32 , Malik Ouzia

There was an interesting exchange between Tuchel and Barkley as he went off. Barkley shaking his head in frustration at missing a golden chance and then Tuchel slapping him on the back and gesturing in frustration himself.

16:31 , Malik Ouzia

73 mins: And that’s Barkley’s last act - Ruben Loftus-Cheek is on in his place.

16:31 , Malik Ouzia

72 mins: Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. The ball’s pulled back to Ross Barkley on the penalty spot and he has time to take a touch but then absolutely leathers it over the bar.

16:27 , Malik Ouzia

68 mins: It’s taken a long old time but we have our first booking of the game and it’s gone to Ashley Westwood, who clips the heels of Barkley.

16:24 , Malik Ouzia

It’s incredible that Chelsea still only lead by one. It is surely a matter of time before they get a second, but Burnley are hanging on in there, which seems to be their only tactic. One set piece and who knows? But they would have to actually get the ball up the pitch to win a set piece of any note.

16:23 , Malik Ouzia

65 mins: As I write that, Hudson-Odoi slaloms through the challenges and must think he’s scored but once again Pope sticks out a leg to keep the Blues at bay.

16:23 , Malik Ouzia

64 mins: Chelsea are still enjoying all the territory and most of the ball but they’re not carving Burnley open to quite the same extent as they were earlier.

16:20 , Malik Ouzia

61 mins: A change from Sean Dyche - Jay Rodriguez is on in place of Chris Wood.

16:18 , Malik Ouzia

59 mins: There’ve been a couple of occasions where Burnley have almost threatened to get in behind, only for the offside flag to be raised. While it’s only 1-0, it only takes a moment.

16:12 , Malik Ouzia

53 mins: This is just lovely football from Chelsea and Havertz is on the end of Hudson-Odoi’s cross but finds his finish deflected over the bar. Surely a matter of time...

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

16:11 , Malik Ouzia

Havertz’ thigh seems to be causing him problems. He came out after the break with heavy strapping. He’s now taken that off because it was impacting his movement.

He won’t want to come off after getting on the score sheet. And he should have a second after firing over from close range just now.

16:09 , Malik Ouzia

50 mins: Off the post!

Reece James bends another wonderful cross into the middle and it comes off the shoulder of Thiago Silva and glances the outside of the woodwork on its way wide.

16:08 , Malik Ouzia

49 mins: The other wing-back this time. Barkley helps it out to James, who takes a touch to set himself before shooting but that gives the defender time to get across and block.

16:06 , Malik Ouzia

47 mins: Ben Chilwell has once again spent most of his afternoon playing as a left-winger and he’s bombing forward at the start of the half, trying to link up with Havertz, but the move breaks down.

KICK-OFF!

16:03 , Malik Ouzia

We are back up and running...

15:57 , Malik Ouzia

The only place Burnley have been a match for Chelsea so far has been on the touchline. I suspect that Dyche and his staff, no doubt fired up by their dugout fracas, will be putting an absolute rocket up their players as we speak.

HT: Chelsea 1-0 Burnley

15:48 , Malik Ouzia

Not quite sure how it’s just the one.

15:47 , Malik Ouzia

45+1 mins: We’re playing two minutes of added time...

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:45 , Malik Ouzia

More back and forth between the benches with Burnley’s Steve Stone telling Chelsea assistant Arno Michels to have some ‘respect’. It’s all a bit tetchy down there.

15:42 , Malik Ouzia

41 mins: I’ve just seen a replay of Thomas Tuchel’s celebration for that goal. Fair to say there was a little bit aimed at the Burnley bench...

15:39 , Malik Ouzia

38 mins: Well, Chelsea have the lead they more than deserve on the balance of play but now they’ll be pushing for a second before the break. Burnley have offered absolutely nothing going forward.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:36 , Malik Ouzia

Deadlock broken. It was all too easy from a Chelsea point of view, but well-worked. James was in space on the right and had time to lift his head and pick out a cross. Havertz was free in the box and directed his header into the corner. It looked like a training ground exercise.

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Burnley | Kai Havertz 33'

15:34 , Malik Ouzia

He’s alright now!

Havertz is back on his feet and now on the scoresheet, but really it’s all about the cross from Reece James - an absolute beauty begging to be put away and Havertz obliges.

15:32 , Malik Ouzia

31 mins: Ouch.

Kai Havertz goes flying out of play as he races to the byline at full-tilt and gets a nudge off a Burnley player which sends him hurtling over the hoardings and into the crowd.

He looks a bit shaken and the physios are over to deal with him.

15:31 , Malik Ouzia

29 mins: Nick Pope’s having a blinder. He’s on his way out to try and deal with James’ low cross when Men deflects it towards the near post and the big ‘keeper manages to react and stick a leg out to stop an own-goal.

15:26 , Malik Ouzia

24 mins: Burnley cannot get to grips with Chelsea at these set-pieces, which is not what you’d usually associate Dyche’s team with. Rudiger again gets free but again guides his header over the bar.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:25 , Malik Ouzia

Tuchel is livid that a free kick is given against Barkley and runs out of his technical area. Dyche then complains to the fourth official about the Chelsea manager running onto the pitch and their is a brief - angry - exchange between the two.

15:24 , Malik Ouzia

23 mins: It’s all going off on the touchline, Thomas Tuchel fuming that Barkley’s been pulled up for a high foot on Wee and Sean Dyche, unsurprisingly, not impressed.

15:22 , Malik Ouzia

21 mins: This’ll go down as a shot on target of sorts for the visitors as Cornet leaps up and tries to acrobatically hook goalwards from the edge of the box but the ball loops tamely into the arms of Mendy.

15:18 , Malik Ouzia

17 mins: Ben Chilwell’s got his head in his hands because he’s in absolutely acres inside the box if Havertz can just turn Kante’s pass round the corner but the German completely miscontrols and the opening is gone.

15:14 , Malik Ouzia

13 mins: They couldn’t get much closer. It’s Barkley’s turn now as he whips James’ lay-off first time towards the far top corner but it shapes just wide.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:11 , Malik Ouzia

It’s safe to say this Chelsea set up has caught Burnley out. Dyche is repeatedly turning to his coaching staff and pointing out errors on the pitch, which Chelsea are exploiting. They could have scored twice already.

15:11 , Malik Ouzia

9 mins: Chelsea are rampant, I’ve got no idea how they aren’t ahead. Jorginho is the latest to go close, flicking a header towards the far corner that Pope parries round the post.

From the resulting corner, Rudiger has a free header but it’s a fair way out and in trying to generate the power he sends it high over the bar.

15:08 , Malik Ouzia

7 mins: Should be 1-0.

Chelsea work a short corner and when Hudson-Odoi delivers, Christensen gets across his man and has to find the net six yards out but glances wide of the far post.

James Robson is at Stamford Bridge

15:06 , Malik Ouzia

Barkley has started in the No10 role behind a front two of Havertz and Hudson-Odoi. And he has just provided the first chance of the match with Hudson-Odoi forcing a save early on. An interesting tactical switch from Tuchel. We will see if it stays like that.

15:06 , Malik Ouzia

4 mins: Almost a cracking start for Chelsea!

Barkley leads the breakaway and feeds Hudson-Odoi on the right. He shimmies and sees his first effort superbly stopped by Pope, who gets down sharply, and then fires straight across the face of goal with the rebound.

KICK-OFF!

We are underway at the Bridge...

Right then, the teams are on their way out at the Bridge. Almost showtime...

Big chance for Barkley

14:43 , Malik Ouzia

It’s a massive afternoon for Ross Barkley, whose introduction is one of four changes made by Thomas Tuchel this afternoon.

Barkley makes his first Premier League start of the season, with Mason Mount only on the bench as he returns from some tooth bother.

Standard Sport prediction

13:35 , Malik Ouzia

Having put Norwich City and Newcastle to the sword in similar games recently, it’s hard not to expect a Chelsea win. Burnley might be a touch more solid than those two but rarely impress away at the so-called ‘Big Six’.

Chelsea to win 2-0.

Burnley, meanwhile, will be missing Aaron Lennon through illness with Dale Stephens also still ruled out.

Christian Pulisic made his return to action against Malmo on Tuesday evening and could further step up his attempts to work up to full match fitness while the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Hakim Ziyech have all started to feature regularly.

Mason Mount should be able to return from an issue with his wisdom tooth.
