Chelsea can finalise six deals this week as Enzo Maresca transfer plans intensify

It promises to be a busy week in the summer transfer window as clubs aim to complete deals before the 2023-24 accounting deadline.

It has been well documented that Chelsea are one of the sides who may need to balance the books before June 30 in order to remain compliant with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations (PSR). Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Leicester and Nottingham Forest are reportedly all in the same boat so there could be transfer movement in the coming days.

Chelsea have already been very active in the transfer window, announcing the signing of centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo earlier this month after the defender's contract at Fulham expired. Over the weekend the Blues also announced the signing of teenage forward Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, who will officially join the west Londoners next summer. The 17-year-old will join in a deal that could rise to as high as £51million.

Business is not expected to stop there, though, and Chelsea are reportedly close to agreeing a number of other deals which could be announced this week. The Blues also may look to make a couple of surprise additions to take advantage of the market. Below, football.london takes a look at six deals that could be struck in the coming week.

Omari Kellyman

Chelsea are in advanced talks with Aston Villa after making a £19million transfer approach for breakout star Omari Kellyman. football.london understands talks begun between the two clubs over the weekend for the 18-year-old who is highly rated in the West Midlands. The Englishman is natural in the attacking midfield position but has operated on both the left and right flank previously.

It's been reported that the teenager will undergo a medical with the Blues on Monday, with a deal set to be announced in the coming days. Kellyman joined from Derby County two years ago and signed a new contract at Villa in October. It is understood that the teenager fulfils a similar role to former Chelsea and current Arsenal man Kai Havertz.

Ian Maatsen

A player who could be heading to Aston Villa this week is Ian Maatsen. Villa have reached an agreement with Chelsea for a £37.5million move with the Netherlands international expected to sign a long-term contract at Villa Park.

It's been reported that Maatsen will complete his medical with Unai Emery's side on Monday.

Jhon Duran

Chelsea and Aston Villa's business may extend beyond Kellyman and Maatsen, too, as football.london understands the Blues are interested in young striker Jhon Duran. The 20-year-old scored eight goals in 37 appearances for Villa last season and has been tipped to have a very bright future.

Talks have happened between Chelsea and Villa for Duran, football.london has been told, but interest has cooled in recent days with attentions turning to other strikers such as Jonathan David and Marc Guiu. Still, Duran to Chelsea remains a possibility and it is one which could still happen.

Conor Gallagher

Gallagher is about to enter the final year of his contract at Chelsea and the midfielder has been linked with a move to a number of Premier League sides including Tottenham, Arsenal and Aston Villa. Chelsea value their midfielder, who appeared 50 times last season, at around £50 million, however, his deal expires in 2025 meaning he could be available for slightly less.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea would sell the 24-year-old, especially as he is currently at Euro 2024 with England. For now, this is firmly one to watch.

Amadou Onana

Everton's financial issues are well documented and Onana could be let go to bring in some much needed funds. The midfielder is currently away with Belgium at Euro 2024 so a deal may be tricky to do but Onana has previously admitted he wishes to play for a 'top club' in the future.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Onana said: "At previous tournaments you have seen that the players who did well make the step up to the top clubs. That’s something I strive for. I feel like presenting myself to the European top and showing what I have to offer. This European Championship is a stage."

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Leicester City reported a loss of £89.7million for the 2022-23 season, taking total losses for their last three Premier League campaigns to over £215million. It is for this period that they have been charged by the Premier League for allegedly breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Because of this, the Foxes may have to sell some of their assets this summer and Chelsea's new head coach Enzo Maresca knows the players well following their promotion last campaign. With Gallagher potentially being allowed to leave, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be an ideal replacement. The midfielder made 49 appearances last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting a further 15. The Englishman could be available for around £40million should Chelsea decide to pursue to the Leicester man.
