Chelsea have already completed their first transfer of the summer window, and Stamford Bridge could soon see its second arrival. Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo signing on a free deal has meant the Blues have secured themselves depth in a weakened position following Thiago Silva's departure, and ahead of new manager Enzo Maresca's own entrance at the start of July.

Reports have suggested that the club do not have to sell players before the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deadline for the 2023/24 period but departures before the start of the new season are nonetheless expected, with as many as 15 stars potentially on the chopping block ahead of their 2024/25 campaign.

To balance their books, the Blues will see departures but they'll also look to get back to their natural spending ways having already spent over £1billion in the two-year period of ownership change.

Here, football.london brings you latest from Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer window opening...

Jhon Duran discussions

Having caught glimpses of Jhon Duran's talent in front of goal under Unai Emery's Aston Villa, the Blues are clearly impressed by what they see. They were linked with the 20-year-old star back in January but after an impressive second-half of the season from Nicolas Jackson in front of goal, is it the right move?

Chelsea have been given permission to discuss personal terms with the star, according to The Telegraph, with a deal between the two clubs having been broadly agreed - but Maresca's side face a few hurdles before completing a £40m move.

football.london says: "£40m seems to be a bit of a reach for someone of Duran's calibre for me. Four of his five Premier League goals this season came off the bench and he did find the back of the net against Manchester City and Liverpool twice, but it'd be a strange decision from Chelsea to go after him.

"With Nicolas Jackson having an impressive 17-goal debut season at Chelsea, is there a need for the Blues to go and find themselves another young star to splash out on? Christopher Nkunku is another threat that would keep him out of the starting XI, especially if Cole Palmer is playing as a No.10 behind the French international who will no doubt be battling for minutes with Jackson already.

"After not landing somebody like Victor Osimhen, a proven striker that can get the job done on the biggest of stages, the Blues have once again resorted to their primary instinct under the guide of Todd Boehly which has been to prioritise youth and potential at all cost - even if it's the wrong thing to do.

"Fans have been clambering for the club to bring in experienced stars for at least two windows now, and with Thiago Silva out of the dressing room, that is needed more than ever - and Duran is not the answer to one of their biggest issues."

Pedro Lima confirms Boehly stance

Chelsea are set to sign Brazilian youngster Pedro Lima with the 17-year-old right-back to become the Blues' second signing of the summer transfer window.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will be sending him to BlueCo-owned Strasbourg having paid a €7m (£6.3m) fee plus €3.5m (£2.5m) in add-ons. It marks another South American starlet that the Blues have managed to get their hands on after the likes of Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Angelo Gabriel, Andrey Santos and Deivid Washington.

football.london says: "It'll be no surprise to see Lima starting at Strasbourg after Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos both spent time on loan there this season in order to sort his development before he properly arrives at Stamford Bridge.

It does support the trend with Todd Boehly's stance on the transfer market of buying up youth potential on long contracts in order to maximise their potential in that same market later on. He's treating it as a business.

"And while it may make financial sense in the long-term, Blues fans won't be looking at these long-term solutions as solving the short-term issues that they currently face which is a heavy lack of experience that will be needed with a new manager coming in - the sixth in the last two years - but Lima could be a fun player to watch for years to come."
