Chelsea will need to be swift in their pursuit of Michael Olise with Manchester United now appearing able to activate their transfer plans. The Blues have been interested in the Crystal Palace star for some time and are said to be in the lead to acquire his services with the summer window on the verge of opening.

Last summer, Olise was one of the names being monitored by Chelsea before they opted to sign Cole Palmer. Despite the success of that transfer, Olise still has his admirers at Stamford Bridge, despite an injury-plagued campaign, after scoring four goals in the last five weeks of the season.

With Eberechi Eze also impressing, Palace have set £60million as their starting asking price for the duo with Chelsea top of his potential suitors, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano. However, the reason for Man United being behind was based around a final decision on manager Erik ten Hag's future still needing to be made.

Late on Tuesday evening it was revealed by the Athletic, following a lengthy review, that United would be keeping Ten Hag and had thus begun new contract talks. As a result of that decision being made, the Red Devils could leapfrog Chelsea in the race to sign Olise now Ten Hag is remaining in his position.

While Olise appears destined for an exit from Selhurst Park, manager Oliver Glasner is adamant that both he and Eze will still be at the club for the 2024/25 campaign. “I am very confident they’ll be here because they have contracts and no one has told me they’ll be leaving," he admitted last month.

"I think what we have done is that we have shown them that Crystal Palace have ambition. We have shown them how we want to play, which path we want to go down, which journey we want to ride together. They can show their strengths, qualities and personalities and express themselves.

Despite Glasner's hopes, Chelsea look to have taken a step towards signing the Frenchmen with GIVEMESPORT, claiming that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Olise. Negotiating with the Eagles could be the difficult part though and a clear timeline will likely in place to seal a transfer with Thierry Henry keen to have him in his France squad for the upcoming summer Olympics.
