Chelsea have signed Djordje Petrovic to continue their summer transfer spree.

The Serbia international goalkeeper arrives from New England Revolution to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga, who left on loan to Real Madrid earlier this month.

Chelsea have agreed a fee of £11.8million for Petrovic, 23, ahead of him competing with fellow new signing Robert Sanchez for the No1 jersey.

The deal comes with a seven-year contract with the option for a further 12 months.

“I grew up watching a lot of Premier League football so it really is a dream for me to be here now,” said Petrovic, who watched Friday night’s win over Luton from the stands.

“I love the intensity of the league and the passion shown by the supporters.

“I know a lot about Chelsea. I remember watching Drogba but, as a Serbian, I liked to watch players like [Branislav] Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic.

“I’m the next Serbian to play here and I want to achieve many good things at Chelsea like they did!”

Petrovic lands as Chelsea’s tenth major signing of the summer.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku arrived first to reinforce the attack before Angelo Gabriel became their first acquisition from Brazil. Lesley Ugochukwu and Axel Disasi arrived from France before Sanchez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Deivid Washington joined in August.
