Lewis Hall's permanent transfer to Newcastle United is all-but-confirmed, with the club subtly revealing that his transfer from Chelsea will be "completed this summer." Hall spent last season on loan at St James' Park with the expectation throughout that he would exit Stamford Bridge fully this summer.

The promising left-back impressed during his year in the northeast even with a frustrating start, clocking up 18 appearances. A £28million deal is now on the cards following a successful loan period that met Chelsea's requirements, and he departs SW6 with their blessing.

Despite being named on Chelsea's retained list earlier in the month, which cast some doubts over his permanent move to Newcastle, the club's latest website update has cleared the air. The 19-year-old features in the new Adidas home kit in the 2024/25 section, with a bio that will excite Toon supporters.

"Hall spent 2023/24 on loan at St. James' Park, making 22 appearances and scoring twice both against Manchester United and is set to complete a permanent move to Tyneside from Chelsea this summer," it reads. Hall himself had dropped hints of his ongoing commitment to the Magpies in an April interview with Chronicle Live, expressing his contentment at the club

"I am here now as a Newcastle player and I really enjoy it," he said, reports Chronicle Live. "The future looks really good for the club with so many young and talented players. It is going in the right direction."

Eddie Howe also expressed his belief in the player, saying: "He's a really talented lad. He's got a couple of things to continue working on as all the players have. I believe in him. My vision for him is he will be at Newcastle for many years."

Hall is a childhood Newcastle fan via family connections and made the switch after seemingly being on the verge of signing a new contract with Chelsea 12 months ago. The Blues will now bank a sizeable chunk of money which aids their hopes of complying with profitability and sustainability regulations (PSRs).
