Must-have pick – Harry Kane

Before looking at his inability to score against Crystal Palace, it should be accepted that every striker has a bad day. Harry Kane had just recovered from injury before that game. The key point however is what happened afterwards.

He was omitted from England’s squad for their international friendlies and was effectively given a prolonged break for recovery purposes. This is important as it means that Harry Kane has recharged his batteries for the much acclaimed North London derby.

Gone are the days when Arsenal dominated this fixture. In fact, Tottenham haven’t lost to Arsenal in the league for over three and a half years. This has been in no small part due to Harry Kane. In fact, he has an excellent scoring record in London derbies as a whole. He will be definitely up for this tie, especially against an Arsenal team that has conceded 16 goals in their last 11 Premier League games.

Comeback pick – Sadio Mané

The Senegal international finally returned back to Liverpool’s starting lineup after missing their last three league games due to injury. He was certainly missed as during his absence Liverpool only won one of those matches.

But, he made an instant impact on his return with two assists. There’s no doubt that there’s more to come from Sadio Mané. In the six league matches that he has started this season, he has registered seven shots on target of which three were converted into goals.

In fact, Mané has scored or assisted at least once on average for every 88 minutes played this season in the Premier League. As a point of note, there have been some questions about his fitness during the international break but he should hopefully be fine to feature on Saturday. Mané will be up against his former club, Southampton, and will certainly be looking to continue his fine form.

Differential pick – Glenn Murray
Glenn Murray scored a second-half winner against Swansea.
Glenn Murray scored a second-half winner against Swansea.

He failed to score in his first six Premier League appearances of the season, but hasn’t stopped scoring since. Glenn Murray has netted four times in his last three games, which in turn has helped Brighton and Hove Albion secure two vital wins and one draw.

Since August, he has registered six shots on target and has a 67% shooting accuracy rate at present. With that said, he is yet to assist or create a big chance so there may be questions on his current style being a bit selfish and one dimensional.

In any case, his recent form can’t be ignored. Brighton play Stoke next. The Potters’ performances on the road have been poor this season, conceding 11 goals from five games. All this works in Glenn Murray’s favour and there’s no real reason why he shouldn’t pose as a goal threat over the weekend.
