ITV Sport have introduced a new referee's analyst to their team during Euro 2024, Christina Unkel.

Unkel has joined the likes of Arsenal legend Ian Wright and former Manchester United captains Roy Keane and Gary Neville in the studio for the tournament in Germany. She has replaced ex-Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg in the role and her duties will involve explaining the key refereeing decisions throughout the competition on ITV.

She has already been called into action a couple of times during the Euros so far. Firstly, after Ryan Porteous was sent off for Scotland against Germany in the opening match and then again on Saturday following Croatia's ruled-out goal against Spain for encroachment.

But who is Unkel, football.london has taken a closer look.

Who is Unkel?

While the 37-year-old is not familiar to many in the UK, some may recognise her as a former FIFA referee. She has since hung up her whistle and made a move into the media.

Those who watch the Champions League in America will recognise her for doing a similar role on the popular CBS Sports Golazo coverage alongside; Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards. Unkel has become a firm favourite on the show with many appreciating her analysis of officiating in the domestic European competition.

Unkel has also had a career as a litigation attorney with a focus in sports law and she also holds a place as a committee member of the US National Soccer Hall of Fame.
