What is Claim to Fame? The TV show Tom Hanks' niece has gone viral for
Ok, so we may have a brand new favourite reality series thanks to a new clip of Claim to Fame going viral on Twitter.
ICYMI, our Twitter timelines are currently full of one clip of reality TV contestant Carly Reeves, (she's Tom Hanks' niece btw), having a full meltdown after being booted off ABC reality series Claim to Fame, at the end of the first episode.
In the now viral clip, shared by Twitter user Rob Milton, Carly is seen getting very upset at her connection to her famous uncle being revealed so early on.
In the series, contestants have to guess each others' connections to celebrities and if they guess correctly, the contestant is sent off the series.
After her fellow contestant Hugo correctly guessed she was Tom Hanks' niece thanks to a series of clues, including one about a bench in a film (three guesses what that's in reference to), Carly left the set and went to back her things.
Whilst doing so, she began complaining loudly and at one point screamed about being kicked off the show, saying: "His freakin’ clues are so freakin’ obvious. There’s literally no reference to benches on any other movie. Even [fellow contestant] Gabriel found that out. He’s not even, like, smart." Wow, ok then.
Carly continued: "I didn’t even get to do any challenges! I don’t deserve this. I should have more camera time. I should be aired longer!"
Following arguably one of the biggest meltdowns in reality TV, people on social media have been obsessed with the clip, with many saying they'd never heard of the show but are now desperate to watch.
So what is Claim to Fame and how can we watch it in the UK? Here's everything you need to know.
What is Claim to Fame?
Ok, so here's the lowdown: Claim to Fame is a reality series airing on ABC in the US, hosted by brothers Kevin and Frankie Jonas.
Each season 12 contestants, who each have a famous relative, move into a house together and have to deduce who each of their fellow contestants is related to.
In every episode there's a competition and the winner of each contest gets immunity and moves onto the next round. Then all the contestants have to vote between the two lowest ranked performers in each challenge for one of them to be the 'guesser'.
The 'guesser' then chooses one of the other players (apart from the immune contestant) and say which celebrity they think they are related to.
If the guesser is correct the other contestant will go home, but if the guesser is wrong then they have to go home. Savage.
After 10 episodes, one person is crowned the winner and walks away with $100,000 (£78,000).
How can I watch Claim to Fame in the UK?
The first series of Claim to Fame dropped last June and was won by Loreal Chanel Palmer, the sister of Keke Palmer. The first episode of the second series aired on ABC earlier this week on 26th June, with episodes being released weekly.
Unfortunately for us viewers in the UK, Claim to Fame is not currently available to stream in the UK.
It's currently being aired on ABC and Hulu, but unlike other Hulu series it's not available on Disney+ yet.
Guess we'll just have to settle for seeing the highlights on Twitter for now.
