Rangers defender Connor Goldson could be offered a fresh start at Birmingham City.

The Gers stopper, 31, has been a virtual ever-present since Steven Gerrard signed him from Birmingham City in 2018. But Goldson isn't guaranteed first-team football under Philippe Clement after being axed towards the end of last season. A knee injury eventually curtailed the veteran's season in April but the long-serving centre-back knows he now faces a fight for a start.

As one of the Ibrox club's highest earners, boss Clement could be open to offers for one of the main leaders of his dressing room. And the Scottish Sun reports that ex-Celtic coach Chris Davies could offer him a route back down south this summer.

Davies recently quit as Ange Postecoglou's assistant at Tottenham to take up his first job in management at St Andrew's earlier and has been tasked with leading the Blues to promotion at the first time of asking following relegation to League One.

It's said he could attempt to convince Goldson to join his summer rebuild as he seeks to add experience to his squad. Goldson still has two years left on his Rangers contract but the 2021 title-winner has also been heavily linked with Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq along with captain James Tavernier.
