Chelsea's stance on Conor Gallagher has not changed as the club prepares to cash in on the midfielder.

The 24-year-old has exactly 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and is attracting the interest of numerous clubs this summer. Gallagher, who captained Chelsea more than anyone else last season under Mauricio Pochettino, is wanted by Aston Villa, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, football.london understands.

Villa have already held talks with Gallagher and his representatives over a possible move, while Tottenham and Atleti's interest has been from afar as of now. The midfielder is understood to be keen on staying in SW6 but Chelsea view his sale as a necessity to help comply with the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Chelsea are said to be open to offers in the region of £50million for the England international, but with just one year remaining on his deal, clubs are reluctant to pay such an extortionate fee. The midfielder is currently in Germany with the England camp for Euro 2024 and his focus remains on helping the Three Lions get as far in the international competition as possible.

Nothing will be decided until England's involvement in the Euros is over, but there is still work going on behind the scenes. Villa and Chelsea have already negotiated two deals this summer with Ian Maatsen moving to Villa Park, while youngster Omari Kellyman came the opposite way to Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that Chelsea and Villa have spoken about Gallagher in recent days. Aston Villa are very much trying to drive the £50million price down as much as possible while Chelsea, to this point, are refusing to budge on their valuation of the midfielder.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are already looking at other central midfielders, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall a big target for the club. The Blues have been in touch with Leicester City in recent days to enquire about the 25-year-old, who starred under Enzo Maresca in the Foxes' Championship-winning 2023/24 campaign.

Leicester are said to value Dewsbury-Hall, who came through the club's academy system, at around £35million. Brighton are also trying to sign the talented midfielder but sources suggest he would rather a move to Chelsea instead.
