Cooperstown routs Waterville; Delhi falls to Norwich

Jan. 22—The Cooperstown girls basketball team cruised to a 58-15 home win over Waterville Monday.

Mia Kalentbach led the offense with 17 points while Rory Nelen and Brenna Seamon each had double-doubles. Nelen notched 15 points and 12 rebounds while Seamon had 12 points and 11 boards.

Cooperstown will visit Stamford/Jefferson Friday.

Norwich 45, Delhi 33

The Delhi girls fell to Norwich 45-33 in a home non-league game Monday.

Natalie Vredenburgh led Delhi with 13 points in the loss. Eleanor Wagner and Riley Maney each scored five points.

Emma Urgo had a game-high 16 points for Norwich.

Delhi will be at Unatego Thursday.

Worcester 42, Laurens/Milford 31 (Saturday)

Worcester handed Laurens/Milford a 42-31 loss Saturday.

Leading the Wolverines was Hailey Shalor with 14 points while Allison Boyle scored 10 and Faith Meiser and Bella Head added eight apiece.

Kyrah Andrades paced L/M with 10 points while Delaney Maison added eight.

Laurens/Milford honored its senior class of Maison, Jaidon Brodie, Alesa John and Allison Munson.

Sidney 54, Bainbridge-Guilford 39 (Friday)

Sidney defeated Bainbridge-Guilford 54-39 Friday on the road.

Ava Cirigliano led the way with a game-high 23 points while Makayla Bales added 11 points in the win.

Johnna Henderson had 13 points for B-G while Marissa Mayo added 11 points in the loss.

Sidney will host Walton/Downsville Thursday while B-G will host Unadilla Valley Tuesday.

WRESTLING

The Oneonta wrestling team placed third out of 17 teams in last weekend's Southern Tier Athletic Conference League Championships.

Oneonta's 128.5 points placed it behind only champion Horseheads and Windsor.

Nine wrestlers placed for the Yellowjackets, headlined by second-place finishes by Clayton Ritter at 101 pounds and Alan Little at 145.

Oneonta's other winners were Marshall Mahar (sixth at 108), Isaac Gray (sixth at 131), AlanMichael Rubin (fourth at 160), Darren Rose (fifth at 170), Lucas Weaver (sixth at 170), Jayden Zakala (third at 215) and Nason Renne (sixth at 285).

OHS will be in Schoharie Wednesday for a make-up dual meet against Duanesburg/Schoharie.

Goshen 51, Cooperstown/Milford 17 (Friday)

Cooperstown/Milford fell to Goshen 51-17 Friday at the Mustang Duals at Mount Markham.

TJ O'Connor won by technical fall for C/M at 152 pounds while Matthew Perrino (215) and Max Sharf (285) each won by pin.

BOYS SWIMMING

Oneonta 104, Windsor 77 (Friday)

The Oneonta boys swim team improved to 4-1 on the season Friday with a 104-77 victory over Windsor.

Elias House notched a pair of individual wins for the Yellowjackets in the 50 and 100 freestyle swims.

Other OHS victories came from Logan Temming in the 200 free, Cyrus Wightman in the 100 butterfly, Bastian Dudley in the 100 backstroke and Jacob Forster-Rothbart in the 100 breaststroke.

Oneonta also won all three relay revents.

OHS will be at Maine-Endwell this Saturday.

SKIING

Plattekill Mountain was the site of Friday's Section IV alpine ski race.

Windham-Ashland-Jewett swept the boys and girls races with combined times of 62.42 and 60.22, respectively.

Hunter-Tannersville came in second in the boys race with a combined time of 70.42.

Rounding out the top five in the girls race were Corning-Painted Post, H-T, Margaretville and Roxbury.

Piper Cohane of WAJ had the top time of the day to win the girls race with 29.81.

Teammates Sophia Dyjak (30.41) and Gianna Garzone (31.01) rounded out the top three.

Devin Schlosser of WAJ won the boys race with a time of 30.22. Joining him in the top three were Chase Norwick of Margaretville (30.82) and JP Klein of WAJ (32.20).
