Kinawley 1-13 Devenish 1-11

Kinawley overturned a four-point half-time deficit to pick up their second win of the Club Players' Competition and inflict a first defeat on Devenish.

The Borus followed up their derby victory over Derrylin with another pulsating win here but Devenish will feel they had chances themselves to see the game out from a strong halftime position.

For Kinawley manager, Dom Corrigan, the most pleasing part of the victory was the influence of his younger players.

"Pleased with the overall performance and especially with our younger players who have come into the team this year- that is the most encouraging aspect of the win at this early stage," he said.

The first half saw the visitors dominate on the scoreboard going in at the break 0-08 to 0-04 in front.

Thomas Treacy rattled over from a placed ball while there were also scores from JJ O'Brien, Cian O'Brien and Conor McGowan.

Sean McManus was accurate from a placed ball for Kinawley who also had a score from Paddy McGovern in that opening half.

The second half saw Kinawley's scoring rate improve and they cut the Devenish lead to just a single point.

Dara Cathcart got in on the scoring act alongside Eoghan McManus for the Borus.

But Devenish almost found the net for a second time. Terry O'Flanagan pounced on a bad kick out but his attempted lob of the keeper came back off the crossbar and Kinawley were let off the hook.

And they made the most of this reprieve as Sean McManus hit another free before Paul Breen hit the back of the net.

Devenish's goal came from a goalmouth scramble and although they had points from Jamie Flanagan and O'Flanagan, late scores from Caolan Brennan and Dylan Boyle helped Kinawley over the line.
