COUNTY Durham trainer Michael Dods is having another fine season and he is aiming to land the feature race on Ladies’ Day at Redcar on Saturday with the rejuvenated Tatterstall.

The gelding has always been highly regarded by the yard and is pictured scoring a notable success in the Aston Martin 3-Year-Old Dash at Epsom on Derby Day last year before his form tailed off.

However, a wind operation has seen Tatterstall return to form with a promising third at Thirsk followed by an impressive victory at Catterick last time.

Despite being 7lbs higher in the handicap, he can strike again in the Start Your Racing TV Free Trial Handicap under Group 1-winning rider Sean Kirrane.

Ray Dawson looks the other jockey to follow with an attractive book of rides, including Nazron in the Racing TV Free Trial Handicap. Trained by Roger Varian – successful in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, the opening race of Royal Ascot this week – Nazron backed up his consistent form with a first victory at Lingfield last October and looks the type to progress.

Dawson can get his long trip north off to a profitable start in the opening Join Racing TV EBF Novice Stakes on Rogue Endeavour for Newmarket trainer Alice Haynes. The colt showed plenty of promise to finish fourth on his debut at Leicester at the end of May.

Dawson will also fancy his chances on another Newmarket raider, Kinetic Force, in the following Free Racing TV At racingtv.com/freetrial Novice Stakes. The Land Force colt, trained by Des Donovan, can build on an impressive winning debut at Lingfield on June 10.

David O’Meara’s runners are always to be feared at Redcar and the Helmsley trainer saddles a strong contender in Young Fire for the Woodsmith Construction Straight Mile ‘Confined’ Handicap. The gelding was an eye-catcher when a strong-finishing third at Redcar at the end of May before going one better at Ayr next time. This looks like a good opportunity to return to winning ways.

Malton trainer Nigel Tinkler sent Yiengaa all the way to Brighton to break her duck last time out, with Faye McManoman in the saddle. The combination team up again in the Market Cross Jewellers Handicap and can follow up that success despite a 7lbs rise.

Red Force One was a Redcar winner back in July 2022 and scored again next time out at York. Phil Kirby’s versatile gelding has won over hurdles since then and was back to being a winner on the flat at Musselburgh last time. He will be strongly fancied to follow-up under Connor Planas in the Watch Race Replays At racingtv.com Apprentice Handicap.
